sphinxsix
Animals and martial arts have been recently the most popular topics on 'Music in General'. This is my humble attempt to prove birds superiority in both animal kingdom and the world of martial arts. You can't beat the goose! christopher3393 1 Link to comment

It's good to break your own rules and habits from time to time Thanks @Confused ! 2 You are welcome, and you have already thanked me enough by introducing me to the world of bird music. I suspect my life will never truly be the same again. I shall run through all the music in this thread to fully understand the genre, but meanwhile, I would like to offer the only song I know, with lyrics, actually sung by a bird, albeit a plastic one. I will try to come up with something a little more musically challenging next time........ (To be honest, I am not sure this qualifies as being an actual bird, or indeed as actual music) Windows 11 PC, Roon, HQPlayer, Focus Fidelity convolutions, iFi Zen Stream, Paul Hynes SR4, Mutec REF10, Mutec MC3+USB, Devialet 1000Pro, KEF Blade. Plus Pro-Ject Signature 12 TT for playing my 'legacy' vinyl collection. Desktop system; RME ADI-2 DAC fs, Meze Empyrean headphones. Link to comment

sphinxsix
Meet a qualified musician among birds - hermit thrush. This Bird’s Songs Share Mathematical Hallmarks With Human Music. The hermit thrush prefers to sing in harmonic series, a fundamental component of human music. Now for some music. Hugo9000 1 Link to comment

sphinxsix
This guy welcomes me every morning while I'm drinking my light coffee and smoking smooth Dutch tobacco roll-your-own. A repeater. He repeats his bird song phrase, the only variation being the length of the phrase ending. I don't know what bird is that. I prefer improvisers - the ones who don't repeat their phrases but surprise you every time - but I appreciate his presence and his song. It's never tiresome in contrast with some audio gear and some (human) music. Fortunately only some.. Link to comment

sphinxsix
Obviously birds fascinated movie makers too. From Pier Paolo Pasolini's Facebook post: Marc Parella's 1992 symphonic score. The terrrifing birds' final attack. Not for the faint-hearted! christopher3393 1 Link to comment
sphinxsix
Tonight the Amsterdam jazz club 'Bimhuis' is a kingdom of birdsong jazz! I might join the party Quote The compositions on A Brid’s Eye View have each been inspired by a different bird sound. The five musicians offer each other room in the dynamic improvisations. Alongside tenor, Colen also plays soprano sax, and pianist Mike Roelofs adds extra color with Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer. ‘The Netherlands has reason to be proud of such groups. They strive as “keepers of the flame” to make sure that the jazz tradition is kept alive throughout the globe’ (Jazz Review). Link to comment
