Brewie
There is some good and neutral Information around active vs passive speakers from Hans Beekhuyzen. I generally like his way of analyzing hifi topics in a more scientific way. Link to comment

I suggest you look up the word so you know what it means before you use it the next time. 4est 1 Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Brewie
He is dutch and yes you are probably right that „scientific“ is the wrong wording. This review an his other reviews are easy to understand and explain complex hifi topics in an let’s say „intelligent“ way. Link to comment

(Besides, isn't English a Germanic language?) It was a bad choice of words in the first place. I was just trying to be nice by suggesting "Germanic". English is a Germanic language, but it's sort of a distant cousin and the accent certainly isn't Germanic. (Think how many English speakers have trouble with gutturals as in "Bach"). Dutch and German accents aren't the same, but you could classify the Dutch accent as Germanic, since Dutch is most definitely a Germanic language. Ralf11
maybe English began as a Germanic language, but the Normans modified it quite a bit; and then... I recommend The Story of English by Robt. McCrum (which I read on a Wyoming sheep ranch while exiled there with 2 pure mathematicians...) Link to comment

Old English came from Saxon in the 6th century. Since then it has changed considerably, both through external influence (e.g. Norman) and by gradual mutation. Link to comment

Unlike some who want to be smartarses, I see good value in what's here: in the real world amplifiers are helped a great deal by having loads which are better behaved; and crossover parts which only have to handle low currents will intrinsically perform better.
