I haven't looked up the details.

I was afraid of that.

So for our both fun :

Shipping from China to Netherlands (but I suppose many countries more) a, say, USD 1 costing product, ships for FREE.

But a USD 20 product also ships for free.

Some times shipping is 1-2 USD.

Point is : this is with shipping time of 20-30 days and the 30 days is so-called guaranteed. Btw this is not really about the traveling time, but is merely about the time when they wake up in some warehouse.

Such shipping can just as well take 3 days only, though these days this is rare.

Point is (similar to yours) : shipping a parcel locally is 8,60 euros. The China parcel is delivered by the exact same government mail company + driver as the locally shipped parcel. So people sure feel this ain't right.

It therefore already happens that the parcel isn't delivered at your door but at the post office where you can collect it. A day later of course because at the day itself you find a notice in your mailbox which in itself normally costs USD 1 to mail and the notice says you can collect the parcel tomorrow.

Oh well.

Yeah, that's what he threatens. I wonder whether this bloke actually gets what he is causing to the world economics.

Or my mood. O.o

Trump:

....Guess what, that’s not going to happen! China has just informed us that they (Vice-Premier) are now coming to the U.S. to make a deal. We’ll see, but I am very happy with over $100 Billion a year in Tariffs filling U.S. coffers...great for U.S., not good for China!

I seriously wonder how he ever could turn into a business man. He just doesn't get it ...

Yeah, they said to have set their Honor phones to target at the US. But now you are the first not to buy them. That's sad.

Btw, of what I understood it is going to be a bit useless to cut out Huwawei as a hardware provider because each single other party who can provide the hardware requires licenses from Huwawei. It seems we (yea, we too over here in Europe) can't get around them much. All you can do is throw an old woman in jail. But even that is not going to help. No any more.

Overpowered.

This psychological warfare costs trillions a day at this moment. And if I were Trump I'd put out a bad tweet on day one after his conglomerate going short on the stocks involved (e.g. blue chips), and next day go long on them prior to a happy tweet.

And at this moment I suspect him of doing that for real. There's a pattern visible by now.

Now how do I get friends with dear Donald ...

Whether you like Trump or not, at least he is taking action against aggressive foreign power.

As a chicken without a head, as we say over here.

I agree with what you say, but that doesn't mean that 90% (just naming a number) of other goods are a necessity to obtain from China because they don't exist elsewhere. Not in this world anno 2019.

I have an other one for you from a couple of years ago - you may recall it:

Chinese workers came to Europe (I forgot the country(s)) which were actually prisoners and thus could work for 100% free. By this means work was obtained which obviously was infinitely more expensive when it would have been executed by locals.

Smart eh ?

A meanest thing to do but smart.

Trumpeteers will lose from such means.

Btw, China can use some pigs in due time. :|

I guess I referred to this.

A bit of context could be that in the US this may not be 100% strange because in the US (ankle chained) prisoners do government work like cleaning roads or working in the woods etc. In Europe we don't know about this phenomenon that I know of.

Yes, and that should be emphasized.

I tried to write a couple of times (but always scratched my due post) that Trump will be the only one who knows in advance what will happen to global shares, just because he knows about the news coming up (his own tweets). He should soon be the richest man on earth. That is, if I were him, I'd go short on shares of concern prior to the news and go long on them again when a next "softening" tweet is due.

I didn't count really, but this could be the tenth time or so that I am pretty sure that he is just influencing the value of shares (remember when I told that Elon Musk is not allowed to tweet such influencing matters - nobody is).

In this occasion he managed to tear down the S&P500 with something like 0.5% (I didn't really look) in the 10 minutes of after hours trading left, after his tweet. It took me an hour this (my) morning to believe what I saw, instead of thinking that all computer systems must have gone bananas.

This does not look good ... (and the real merit of it all will start in just over 2 hours of time - pre hours trading).

White House Weighing Limits on U.S. Portfolio Flows into China - Bloomberg

(Updated - September 27, 2019 11:45 AM EDT)

Trump administration officials are discussing ways to limit U.S. investors' portfolio flows into China, according to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with internal deliberations.

Among the options Trump is considering: delisting Chinese companies from U.S. Stock exchanges and limiting Americans' exposure to the China market through government pension funds. Exact mechanisms for this have not been worked out and any plan is subject to approval by President Trump, who has give the green light to the discussion, the report said.

Officials are also examining how the U.S. could put limits on Chinese companies included in stock indexes.

So how many billion is this again ?

The sad thing is that tomorrow he will blame Powell again for the S&P500 being so low.

He is an idiot and a lunatic in one.

Do we even realize how much money is involved in his new little plan ? This is nothing like 25% import taxes over 300 billion or whatever it is today and tomorrow. The freak is enormously dangerous with (t)his power.

Maybe someone can help me reasoning how this little trick will work out. Example : Alibaba. A market cap of 433 B. So only that one. Will that ground Alibaba when this is just cut out ? Will it even stop all the transactions from China with the Western world ?

Why is he even doing this, the US-China negotiations being due again for next month ?

Is Trump now going short on these now specific stocks, ahead of his next week's announcement that he will think about it for another year (which won't last that) so he can go long on them the usual two days after ?
