Hugo9000
With so much fawning recently in the audio world over a certain person with inflated/questionable credentials, I propose that we put things in proper perspective by discussing the truly great men and women in audio history, who have made indisputable contributions to a hobby that is capable of bringing music from all over the world and reaching back into time into our homes and lives every day. I'd like to start with Edward C. Wente, whose work on microphones and loudspeakers was so groundbreaking and important. Here is a brief but eloquent tribute to this great mind in audio history: https://www.svconline.com/products/ec-wente-unsung-audio-pioneer-gets-his-due-394981 请教别人一次是5分钟的傻子,从不请教别人是一辈子的傻子 Link to comment

It takes some real out of the box thinking to come up something like the 901 speaker or a hand drier that makes use of your shirt cuffs to dry your hands. Link to comment

Bose - he fits the thread title tho I'm not really familiar with his company's products, other than hearing some 901s many years ago, but never with my own music, and then the occasional in-store setup with those tiny speakers. He was certainly innovative, and of course controversial, and clearly with an enormous impact on home audio, and those noise-cancelling headphones. No wait a minute....I'm thinking of macaroni. Never mind. Hertz prevents us from having to talk about cycles per second or cycles for short or cps for an abbreviation. And always keep in mind: Cognitive biases, like seeing optical illusions are a sign of a normally functioning brain. We all have them, it’s nothing to be ashamed about, but it is something that affects our objective evaluation of reality. Link to comment

Had digital audio been invented then, it might have been transmitted that way, of course. Don't get me wrong, their contributions to science were great, just not audio related. Link to comment
