SongKong Music Tagger

Hi, we are excited to announce that SongKong is now available for any Synology Disk Station that supports Docker (i.e Intel based).

If you are not aware of SongKong but are aware of Bliss then you could consider SongKong to be similar type of software, although in many ways it is very different. Its focus is automatic matching of your music via AcoustId/MusicBrainz/Discogs, it can then add very detailed (Roon level) metadata and artwork.

SongKong provides automatic song identification for your music, identifying songs, adding metadata and artwork, and also deletion of duplicate songs. It also provides manual editing and a completeness report totally free, and the automated matching can be run in preview mode so you can see the exact results.

It can be fully  controlled via a web-browser making it totally suitable for use on a Synology Disk Station. If you are a QNAP user then we expect to have it working for QNAP very soon.

It has been thoroughly tested upon a Synology DiskStation 218+, and full installation instructions are available here

Hi Rickca,

Slow because of its size  (shown as 179mb within Synology Docker) or because of the bandwidth speed from the server ? We use the cut down Linx alpine image and cannot get it any smaller and download is via Docker Hub so we don't have an opportunity to provide  a faster server for downloading.

Please let us know how you get on.

Slow because of bandwidth speed from the server.  Size is no problem and I have about 175 Mbps downstream from my ISP.

SongKong 6.1 Elephant now available.

This now includes support for finding artists images, these can be added to the music files themselves but also if you have your music organized by AlbumArtist/Album it can store the albumartist as a folder.jpg within each artist folder.

For example using MinimServer and browsing by folder it can now pickup the folder images and display them instead of the default folder icon. Screenshot below shows Kinsky control point being served by MinimServer

Songkong 6.3 Psychocandy is now available.

Reports now has Browse by Artist/Album

In this new release we have introduced a new section called Browse by Artist/Album. This group the songs by the album artist and album metadata and lets you browse the songs in this grouping. This shows all songs processed by Fix Songs, not only the songs that SongKong actually modified.

We show artist and album artwork if SongKong has it, and also add badges indicating how many songs exist for this metadata and how many change.

This new section of the report mirrors the kind of view you would expect to see in many music players and control points and should make it easier to manage your music.

Reports Song Changes section revamped as Browse By Folder

The Song Changes section has now been renamed, and instead of showing a single tree it now uses tiles to let you browse by folder in a similar way to Browse by Artist/Album.

It now shows all songs processed, not only the modified songs. If a folder has a folder.jpg in the folder then this is displayed as the folder image.

Providing Browse by Artist/Album and Browse By Folder sections make it much easier to identify any discrepancies between file structure and metadata.

Also tiles rather than tree works better for mobile and small screen devices.
