Superdad
Because it is more costly to stock product chassis in different finishes with no way to know which will be more popular and how many of each to keep in stock relative to the number of circuit boards. Since enclosures are customized for each model, there are minimum economical run sizes (for example I have 250 UltraCap cases made each time) and cost varies at different quantity beaks—per finish. That is 250 in Black costs us less than 125 silver and 125 black. And it becomes a burden if we run down on one color far faster than the other. What do we do then? And it’s no fun if someone does not order because they are waiting for the other finish to come into stock. I’m not speaking for Sonore here, but the above are the typical considerations. And I remember well what a pain this was back in my Hovland Company days, as we tried to maintain two different finishes of vastly more expensive and complex chassis. lucretius 1 UpTone Audio LLC Link to comment
