Popular Post exdmd
When I was a teenager learning pedal steel I wore out this album copping licks from Tom Brumley. Recorded live and try to find a mistake by one of the musicians ... there are none. Used to be sold by the Country Music Hall of Fame store but you can get the CD at Amazon now on the Sundazed label. Popular Post Sal1950
Maybe the best Christmas song of all time !!!. Lisa Layne - All I Want For Christmas Is You What a beautiful voice, She makes me cry at least a dozen times each year. Mariah Careys big hit doesn't even come close. Nikhil and exdmd 2 "The gullibility of audiophiles is what astonishes me the most, even after all these years. How is it possible, how did it ever happen, that they trust fairy-tale purveyors and mystic gurus more than reliable sources of scientific information?" Peter Aczel - The Audio Critic R.I.P. exdmd
@Nikhil I just ordered "Buck 'Em!: The Autobiography of Buck Owens" from Amazon. By chance have you read it yet? If Don Rich had not passed on so early from that motorcycle accident I always wondered how Buck Owens' career might have turned out. He was one savvy artist on the business side, keeping his publishing rights and master tapes. Nikhil 1 Link to comment

Hold yer horses, pardner. 😊 No, not serious, and no,not mocking this thread. I thought it was very funny. It is very irreverent, but I don't revere country music. It is not sacred ground for me.Perhaps you also object to my other posts in this thread? And the numerous country music posts I've made elsewhere on the forum? On 11/7/2018 at 12:14 AM, Nikhil said: It's unfortunate to see the negative connotation that Country seems to evoke. As an international on here, Country music is truly one of the most American of all genres that truly deserves to be shared and discussed on this forum along with the other popular genres. Maybe the disconnect from all the stereotypes and politics of the genre helps. I hope that this thread will showcase Country music positively (maybe with some editing of the earlier derogatory posts). We clearly disagree in some respects, but I don't want to argue. I've listened to and like plenty of country music, but quite selectively. I dislike some of it, at times even strongly dislike, and have reasons for that. You have an opinion. I disagree. Hope you can live with that. If not, feel free to ingnore me, to ask the OP or moderator to remove my post, or perhaps even ask the OP to let you take over the thread. You can even PM me if you want to discuss seriously the politics, religious, and aesthetic value of country music and I'd be happy to reply. Meanwhile: Wish I could find a Youtube link to Willie performing this solo. This is how I first heard it in a live show years ago, and he really nailed it effortlessly. Nikhil 1 Link to comment

Ralf11
speaking of stereotypes and the general issue of a music genre oozing into the majority culture... one negative effect of the latter is loss of the unitary elements that made the genre identifiable, you could maybe say it's "soul" I'd say that the Outlaws did for C&W what punk did for rock (not to promote the punk thread I started...)
