silverlight
For all of us following the topic of power tweaks, Mini PSU's, battery power supplies, etc., thought you'd be interested in the following updates in battery technology used by Red Wine Audio. My understanding is that this will shortly be expanded to the Lightning battery supplies (for DAC's, Mini's, etc.). http://www.redwineaudio.com/products/lfpv-edition Link to comment
cfmsp
interesting, seems like a must try. thanks clay Link to comment
Part-Time Audiophile
I agree, seems like a natural evolution over the SLA batteries. FWIW, I tried out a 30.2 ~2 years ago and liked it very much. I ended up going with an EL34-based integrated in the end, but I do think Vinnie does great work. Scot Hull Part-Time Audiophile Link to comment
barrows
and the hype are correct, the LiFePO4 (aka Lithium Nanophosphate) batteries could be quite revolutionary for audio gear. In the past, internal resistance has been the downside of battery supplies, but the LiFePO4 batteries feature very, very low internal resistance. This means that their output impedance is very low; they can provide lots of instantaneous current. Previously battery supplies have been very quiet, but often lacked dynamics, unless massively paralleled and connected to large banks of capacitors-with the LiFePO4s this complexity may not be necessary at all. I am going to experiment with battery power for my new diy DAC kit (just the DAC section, class A discrete output stage will have an AC based shunt regulated supply) and see how it goes.
