Official Qobuz Issues Thread

Recommended Posts

This is amazing! My congratulations to Qobuz. This will force the entire industry into CD quality at least. Hopefully Spotify will give up lossy and Tidal MQA (which of course is lossy as well). At this price none should choose Amazon's crappy service over Qobuz.

Anyone knows if this offer will come to Europe? I'd really much rather have access to the French classical catalogue.

Some time ago I was registered as a Qobuz beta tester (or whatever the pre-launch program in the U.S. was called). I had not been a paid subscriber.

In trying to subscribe to the new Studio Premier offer today, I get nothing at all except the old pricing/plan options when I click the "Get Studio Premier" button on the How Do I Switch web page.

So I login using my preexisting credentials from that beta test U.S. pre-launch, and the only plans I am offered are the old ones, and they are even listed in £ as the currency instead of dollars.

What am I doing wrong? Why is the subscription page apparently that of the non-U.S. service even though clearly I am located in the U.S. and had only ever been a beta tester previously?

@MikeyFresh I have the same problem. It seems the beta testers were signed up on the Great Britain Qobuz site even though they live in the US. When you are logged in if you check the URL you will see you are transferred over to the GB site when you log in.

I opened a customer support ticket to get it sorted out. It looks like the lower pricing is only offered to US residents right now. Your other option would be to cancel your plan then sign up again on the US site using a different email and credit card. I would give the customer service option a try first.

On Catalina I have major issues with the desktop app as well. I have this screen for minutes at a time. I wonder if there is a new privacy setting that needs to be adjusted.

OK now or still having problems? Just installed the app on Catalina running on a 2009 MacBook Pro and everything seems to work well.

I'm fortunate that my email allows different domains. I just changed to a different domain from the same service (Fastmail - great service), made sure I was registered in the US, then deleted the beta account.

@dmackta and crew have been busy! @exdmd just alerted us to the news in another thread, so I looked it up:

And this is now at https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/music/streaming/offersqobuz-studio-premier.thumb.jpg.300b259f15d94228a00e7cb762d18810.jpg

Can our dear friends at Qobuz explain how they can offer this while continue charging us faithful in Europe a whopping 24.99 EUR a month!!!!!

I have the JS build 009 now too. The updates came one after another in rapid succession. If Blackbird is blocking scripts then I'm not surprised it's giving the Qobuz app a brief case of the hiccups, and if it doesn't cause other problems that's good luck. As to exactly how the app is developed, doubt we'll ever know.

Sorry for that. We rollback for a translation problem and this caused several issued.

All is now fixed.

You could simply use the following link

Does not work. When I log in from that link I am automatically redirected to the GB shop and my account shows I am associated with Great Britain even though I signed up for the beta from the US. Letting customer service sort it out, they will have to manually change my country of origin looks like.

I've noticed a duplication problem across all of my applications (Qobuz desktop-iMac/Audirvana 3.5/iPeng/ LMS w/Material Skin plugin). The duplicate albums are not consistent from one app to the next and upon re-start they change again. The fact that they differ from one app to the next seems to point to a problem at the source(Qobuz). Has anyone else experienced this? Co-incidentally, this problem first appeared after the 500 favorite limit was fixed.

To add to the duplication problems, now when selecting an album...another album is played. This issue seems to be isolated but easily replicated. I've flushed the caches on everything, deleted and re-installed each app. The problems persist. Any ideas?

Yes I do get that exact same behavior, I too have filed a support ticket describing this issue.

I can see in my My Account Settings that my country is erroneously listed as the United Kingdom, and while there is provision to change the address, the country field is locked. So this will need to be changed by Qobuz.

I can’t be happier about the last 2 days. Purchased a Node2i that was running Tidal directly to my integrated for mqa. Good, but had a better dac. Signed up for Qobuz last night, running thru my Teac 501. College football and great resolution with -0- dropouts or issues. Sorry Audirvana / Mac Mini and Tidal. I just want to sit, turn on and listen. Too many issues before.

Hey @brianlg -- Thrill Jockey hasn't licensed us yet. Been working on it for a while. Let them know you'd love to hear their releases on Qobuz. Bathory has their own label, distributed by the Orchard, should be delivered to Qobuz any day...this has been ongoing for 3 months. Same with the Ulver. End of November is when all the Orchard-distributed back catalog will be live. Drudkh is on Season of Mist, who we have - what are we missing? https://open.qobuz.com/artist/937353 In general, there is no such thing as a fully updated catalog. There are unlimited labels and suppliers, new releases and reissues every single day, and titles changing labels or distribution just as frequently. Our team is really small but totally dedicated. The other companies have lots of people just dealing with licensing.

By "fully updated" I meant as in previous releases that aren't available in Qobuz but that are available in other streaming services. It seems like you're in the midst of updating the catalog for Qobuz, so that's what I meant by asking when will that process be done? I realize there will be record labels that still need on board etc. Would love to switch over especially after the price drop, just waiting on and hoping for some of my favorites to appear

The country field has to be locked as Qobuz costs a different  amount in each territory ( same number of currency units but the currencies  do not have the same value) plus there are VAT considerations outside of the USA as well as territorial repertoire licensing restrictions. So this is not a field that can be amended by the user without consequences.

Were you originally a Qobuz Beta tester? I understand that as Qobuz USA did not exist in those early test days US testers were given access to the UK service.

Yes that is the exact issue for myself and at least one other member here (scroll back about 12 posts).

I resubscribed to Qobuz after a few months since I cancelled. A few observations from my perspective:

1 - No improvements in catalog. Whatever I was missing back then, it is still missing. 20% of my Tidal library approximately, is not in Qobuz.

2 - What’s new weekly refresh is still the same. Lacking compared to Tidal

3 - Still no separate category for Metal. I contacted Qobuz then, and obviously went to the wrong ear. Or maybe not the target customer group

There are lots of improvements to the catalog. I'm sorry if the specific things you are looking for aren't there. Almost everything that was once lacking for me is now in the catalog.

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three .

Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup.
Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

All absolute statements about audio are false :)

And that's no small detail, different albums, in different resolutions, are available in different regions of the world (or not), due to region restrictions imposed by the record labels.

We can all thank the idiot record label suits and their legal teams for that mess, one they will never likely be able to rectify.

I understand that. And it’s out of my control. I was merely pointing out that these are my Tidal albums missing on Qobuz. Same country.

I only checked first 100 albums on my Tidal library. I am sure there are more in the rest of my Tidal library. I will do a full inventory in the next few weeks. I may keep both Tidal and Qobuz for a year
