Kazoo etc) to do that. It seemed to work temperamentally when first released but just spins every time I try it. For info I can use Qobuz from Linn’s Kazoo app and so the issue is just with this exciting feature. Luv Qobuz and been sublime and then + member since they started Hello, We do not have a new version date of the application in which reading on uPNP/DLNA compatible outputs would be functional. A new version will arrive in about ten days but this one will not fix this feature. We have identified reading problems with uPNP/DLNA outputs and now need to implement a new approach to properly meet expectations on this feature. To go into detail, we need to transform our application so that it can serve audio file links itself. This will require more time, especially since we have to pay attention to the application's performance. I sincerely doubt that we will have time to propose this before the end of the year, but I know the importance and need for this feature and I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible. It seems the Qobuz app doesn't recognize the first generation Chromecast but does recognize the gen 2 Chromecast. I'm assuming there are limitations of the first version that make it problematic. Just an observation. Hi, Can you explain the issue you have with the first generation Chromecast ? Recently Google made some changes to the Chromecast SDK which generated listening issues between our applications and Chromecast, when everything was working well. We are in contact with Google to find a solution. Moreover, a redesign of the Qobuz interface for Chromecast will be available in the coming weeks. One is development by Roon, while the other is development by Qobuz. For me Roon brings the benefit of having my streaming and local music managed by single interface, for now I am perfectly happy to use BubbleUPnP client on Android phone/tablet or mConnect on IOS devices with Minimserver. I rather have access to Qobuz and let Qobuz release a stable client when they are ready. How did Damien solve this? I don't know in detail what A+ is doing for the UPnP. What I do know is that we tried to send the url of the audio file directly to the UPnP player. However, the header in the request on our servers is a problem for a large majority of these readers. As A+ or BubbleUPnP do (if I'm not mistaken) the objective will be to get the audio file from Qobuz and then send it to the readers. That's why I'm talking about transforming our application into a url server. At that time we will have control over the headers in the request and will be able to adapt it to the UPnP's needs. It will also be possible at this time to convert the file to another format such as WAV, which is less problematic than Flac for UPnP. rickca, Mark Dirac and asdf1000 1 2 Qobuz Product Manager for Desktop, Web Player and Search Engine. So the solution you are describing, when in place, should preserve the hires quality (e.g. 24/192 or 96) and the customers local DS/DAC handles the decoding, not the pc. Sounds awesome. No. Of course we keep the audio quality but instead of providing at the UPnP output urls of audio files such as "http://www.qobuz.com/fileXXX.flac" we will give urls such as "QobuzDesktop/fileXXX.flac". On these last urls we will be able to do what it takes to make them compatible with UPnP outputs. The Qobuz Desktop will download the file from "http://www.qobuz.com/fileXXX.flac" keep in application cache and give another url to de UPnP Output to read this file. For example I want to listen to a complete album, am I going to have to wait until the album is completely downloaded before it will start playback? Even if it starts playing after the first song is downloaded that is still going to introduce the delay. I think Qobuz is trying to re-event the wheel here, considering you have at least three examples of UPnP streams working correctly for Qobuz (BubbleUPnP, mConnect and A+). Maybe Qobuz could collaborate with the authors of those apps to address the issue in the current code. We do not re-event the wheel and we have already collaborate with BubbleUPnP. I did factory reset both of the Chromecasts I'm using (Gen 1 and Gen 2) Using the Mac OS Qobuz app (Mac OS 10.1.6): Chromecast Gen 1 has never appeared as an output (see image). Using the Android Qobuz app (OS 9): 1. Chromecast Gen 1 always appears as an output but without the Chromecast label; Chromecast Gen 2 is always labeled. 2. When switching between mp3 and 16/44, the indicator on the display connected to the Chromecast changes but not on the Android app itself; app indicator mp3 icon remains regardless of quality setting. 3. Music playing via the Chromecast Gen 1 rarely seems to skip. Note: Chromecast Gen 2 plays mp3 quality without any problems but drops out constantly during 16/44 playback, regardless of control application. My wifi and overall network is fairly robust. The interface is great and much better than Tidal, with the glaring exception of composers' names not being shown right besides the work as they are sometimes on Tidal and almost always on Spotify. The greatest disappointment of all however is the absence a tremendous amount of recordings. MDG, Hyperion, a great deal of Hungaroton, and many, many recordings I own on CD or am used to access on Tidal are missing from Qobuz. Take for instance the recordings of the composer from the classical period Albrechtsberger. None of those on Hungaroton available on Tidal are present on Qobuz. Am I doing something wrong? Is someone else capable of accessing them there? Most of the Festetics Quartet recordings, a favorite of mine, are missing as well. These omissions are strange and frustrating, and for me, a deal-breaker. I would consider subscribing to the high definition tier if every recording was available. As it is, I'm not sure I'm going to even finish my trial as I know I won't continue with the service. Seems to me after everything is said and done, if one wishes to have unrestricted access to a universal repertoire of music, the only option remains the trusty audio CD. We are in negotiations with many suppliers, major and label. It may take more or less time. Sometimes a label present at a supplier prefers to negotiate directly. There is no such thing as a simple case. We do our best to integrate them. Hungaroton is on the list of ongoing negotiations. I have often found these in blogs, a forum like this, or even some of the mags have reasonab;y good ones. Anyone can create the playlist and make it available which is brilliant but how do you find them? At the moment I don't seem to be able to search for them even if I know they are there. I actually need the exact reference that has to be shared somewhere. Am I missing something? I just think this is an excellent piece of the service that is underused. BTW I can find the Qobuz playlists without any problems. The search doesn't seem to access the user playlists, just the Qobuz curated ones. Any ideas? In fact, you cannot search for a customer's playlist. Only Qobuz playlists or Qobuz partners' playlists are available for consultation. The next step is to search our customers' playlists. This one will be available soon, but we can't give you access to all our customers' playlists because some of them are not interesting: 0 tracks, 1 complete album and nothing else, etc..... Our job is to index, on the search engine, only the customer's playlists that can be interesting and for that we need to apply some restrictions like: playlist with 10 tracks minimum, tracks of 2 different albums minimum etc..... I am sure you have more than enough to do at Qobuz but I did always wonder if Qobuz should have a forum for Qobuz users to share their musical discoveries or talk about artists or even just a place where they could post their favourite/recommended playlists. Or maybe simpler just a place that everyone can create their 'super' playlist of their favourite tunes and post it in their name. The forum would handle all of that and add some sort of community but having been around a few forums over the years I realise they can too often disrupted by a mischevious poster and often become difficult to manage. By that I mean - starting from my Qobuz app: Let's take a concrete example: https://open.qobuz.com/album/getuakd2s41i2, Brahms: Symphony No. 2, on the label BIS: BIS released the album in 2 sample rates: 24/96 and 16/44.1 Qobuz offers it up for streaming at up to 24/96 My question is this: since the user can select 4 streaming quality levels, how do you handle each one: 24/192: I assume this is not delivered in this case? 24/96: BIS 24/96 release 16/44.1: this is the key. Is this downconverted from 24/96, or is this the label's 16/44.1? MP3 320kbps: provided by label? derived from 16/44.1? Or from the 24/96? Just trying to understand the provenance. Hello, There are no rules on the listening skills provided by suppliers. Some only deliver Hi-Res, others only Losless etc.... Therefore, for each quality offered by Qobuz, we will fill the gaps by converting from the highest quality provided. We do not do upsampling, however. In any case, even if MP3 quality is provided, we do not take it into account and offer our own version for this format from the CD quality provide or created. This currently allows us to have the best MP3 quality in streaming. For losless: CD quality, if this one is provided we keep it, if not we create it from the superior quality. For Hi-Res up to 96kHz, if we have a higher quality and this quality is not provided we will also create it from the higher quality. To convert from one quality to another, we use the dBpoweramp software (https://www.dbpoweramp.com/) On the website http://src.infinitewave.ca/ you can compare the encoding quality of dBpoweramp with other software.
