The Computer Audiophile
Hi Guys - Thanks so much for the discussion thus far. It's really cool to see people offer opinions about sound quality after listening and for others to offer their expertise based on what they know about the technology. All information is welcomed. Since there's no free lunch, I'd love to know about the Pros and Cons to the Chord approach. asdf1000 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
Popular Post The Computer Audiophile
I just contacted the US distributor for a review unit. I'm guessing they won't be available for a while. barrows, buonassi and spotforscott 3 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
One thing I love is that we have options. Custom HQP or M Scaler or whatever. All very cool. barrows 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Let's make sure to keep it on topic folks. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

What do you (anyone) suppose the M Scaler brings to the table over and above such a software implementation? Ease of use, simplicity, and looks. All very valid. barrows 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

It may not work like many people think it will work when using other DACs. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Inputs: 2x BNC 2x optical 1x galvanically isolated USB Type-B compatible with DSD and PCM data (up to DSD 256); with DSD upsampled to PCM Outputs: 1x optical 1x S/PDIF 1x galvanically isolated dual BNC (enables upscaling to the maximum resolution (768kHz from 96kHz data) Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Not many DACs have dual BNC cable of receiving this. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

Why wouldn’t PC be able to do the same, or why wouldn’t an offline conversion do the job ? I have seen Rob and some one else keep claiming that his filter and algorithms are perfected and superiors to others. Very interesting are there other similar filters ? Or is his really superior A computer can do it, but in a far less elegant package and requires the user to do far more than connect a couple cables. Resale value will will probably be higher for the M Scaler as well :~) Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

Timing errors is negated out Is there an app that does offline conversion using the same filters? Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

The Computer Audiophile
Hi Guys - Let’s keep this thread on the topic of the M Scaler. Any other stuff will make great spin-off threads. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

The Computer Audiophile
OK Guys - Let's try something, if you're up for it. I enabled a new Off Topic reaction similar to the Upvote, Like, and Thanks reactions. Given that it's very hard for me to read every post in the context of the entire thread, I often think stuff is off topic or on topic that really isn't. Are you guys willing to mark posts as Off Topic, so I can go through and select them easily to move to another thread? If not, no worries. In addition the Off Topic reaction will be available everywhere else on the site. auricgoldfinger 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

But I also worry that people will get upset when their posts were labelled off-topic and then this becomes a debate on why things should or should not be off-topic. Let’s see how it goes. I’m curious whether people concur with my perspective of what’s on-topic and what’s off-topic. That may be the best way forward. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

The developer of HQ Player hijacked this M-Scaler thread to criticize the approach of Rob Watts and explain why HQ Player is better. Among other things, he mentioned that the number of taps is a meaningless metric. Nevertheless, he has released an update to HQ Player a mere 2 weeks later that includes a "mega" filter with 1 million taps for PCM and 16 million taps for SDM. Go figure! Jussi is not the type of guy to purposely hijack a thread for his own gain. Trust me, he isn't getting rich off HQPlayer. He is a really nice guy that wouldn't intentionally derail the thread. barrows and jabbr 2 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
