What your criteria for "great video music recording"? 7 minutes ago, Kal Rubinson said: 3. Recorded video distracts me from the music. My experience too, but whole can be greater then sum of parts. So judged differently IMO. Also can learn much about instruments, playing styles, &c. which is big bonus for me. Link to comment

Old memory nags me of different Telarc/Atlanta 'Carmina Burina', but on vinyl. Think I had one, but not now. Anyone remember also? Only keep Chesky, Decca, EMI, L'oiseau-Lyre, Reference R. & few other LPs. Link to comment

I liked sound, but too many lbs of LPs. Decide to replace/rip CDs, & sell vinyl. Usually good decision, maybe not for this album rando 1 Link to comment

Have some candidates (but great is relative, so check before say). But one now I think worth your time- Dead Can Dance - Toward The Within - recorded live, Mayfair Theatre, Santa Monica CA 2004 Sorry, not remember specific SQ details, but never have problem with DCD album(4AD) sound. DVD of group playing with diverse, interesting, pleasing set of instruments & voices (suspect taste for opera may help like DCD). Respectful (IMO) filming of darkened set, by song, venue well sized for DCD, audience not intrusive. Between some songs, interviews with principles uncovering thoughts & unique musical paths to the group. Hearing history of group, & seeing actual playing of music already high in my esteem, rank this video among very top for me. Entranced & sucked-in best words for my 'impressions'. I think DCD make musical, unusual, interesting, well crafted work, Even if not classical-- make me realize no classical music videos in my house Link to comment
