USBridge with Mytek192 DSD?

Recommended Posts

Hello Allo Team,

i've got a USBridge with DietPi Allo Gui and use it with my iDSD micro. I sold the iDSD today and ordered a Mytek192 DSD.

Did the USBridge support the relatively old Mytek192 DSD with the installed DietPi Allo Gui?

Thanks and many greetings

Dominik

I just received my Allo USBridge and discovered that it indeed does not play at all with my Mytek 192 DSD.

Some rather late research suggests that USB2 on the Mytek is a no-go since it requires drivers, which does not exist for Linux.

Using USB1.1 my Mytek is discovered correctly, but only static noise is played.

Perhaps @allo.com can shed further light on this?

I'm now debating whether to return the unit or not, since my next planned upgrade is a Schiit DAC, which I sincerely hope will work.

as per Mytek 192 spec it will work with Myetk USB 2.0 port up to 192K and DSD64,DSd128.

which player you are using ?  Roon ? ...

can you do ssh login and share below commands results

lsusb

lsusb -t

cat /proc/asound/card1/stream0

Yes, I'm using Roon Bridge on the USBridge. Or rather, I've been trying to use it.

These are the outputs when my DAC is connected to the 'clean USB port' (and USB2 on the Mytek):

It appears the 'card1' folder does not exist:

root@MTX:~# ls /proc/asound/
atm7059link card0 cards devices pcm timers version

I've also attached a screenshot of the ssh output when trying to select 'usb-dac' as soundcard with the Mytek connected via USB2.

(Basically it just says that it is "unable to find a USB-DAC on system")

However, if I switch to the USB 1.1 input on the Mytek I get a different result:

This time around I actually got the Mytek to play using the USB 1.1 port, although it is of course limited to 96kHz which means that some of my albums won't be playing at their native resolution.

I don't know what I did wrong last time when I only got static on USB 1.1, unless I somehow managed to not select 'usb-dac-1.1'. Although to be fair I'm not yet entirely confident that it won't start screaming static again at some point in time.

as per the results with  Mytek USB 1.1 port Dac detected as audio device. On Allo web GUI select usb-dac-1.1 for proper working.

Myetk USB 2.0 mode not detecting as Audio class device.  This need to be clarify with Mytek support team.

Yes, USB 1.1 has now been working quite well.

However, the intermittent 'pops' that appear about once a minute are a bit bothersome. Is this something I should discuss with Mytek as well?

I've not tried USB 1.1 on the Mytek together with my PC, but with USB 2 there have never been any misbehavior.
