Best version of Itunes?

Recommended Posts

Any version of Itunes that is better than another? I'm starting today with a clean slate on my G5/Itunes v4/OSX 10.4. Should I update Itunes to v 9, or is there a better version to use?

(Going to use Chris' Ripping Methodology using a older Windows XP to run dbpoweramp and their audioconversion software to write on the G5's int. hd for my working music, and a usb out to ext. esata drive for archival )

Thanks

Chris

Avoid using Itunes, It stinks! That lousy app is for Mp3 files.

Use Play!

Lizard King ... you know when you spout off about iTunes (which many experienced people do find perfectly satisfactory) you do yourself a real disservice. You make some really intelligent posts, then this one really puts a different spin on you - especially when you find 2 week old questions to reply to just to say "Avoid using iTunes, It stinks! That lousy app is for Mp3 files."

Why not just say something like ... "I don't find iTunes to be particularly good, even under Mac OSX. Why not try Play as an alternative"?

...in my opinion / experience...

While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing.

And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism.

keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out.
