newbie needs a bit of guidence

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for the past 3 weeks. During this time I've learned a lot, at the moment my set up is very simple: a laptop, an x-fi 5.1 soundcard and logitech x540 speakers.

I know some people think x-fi are not good and logitech is the kind of speaker teenagers use to listen to their music (from what I've read here hehe). But they do their job fine.

 

Now I want to see "what else is out there" I'm planning on buying a Marantz 1060 (a friend sells it to me for 60 pounds or 87 dollars, I haven't seen it, but I know it works).

I would like to buy some bookshlef speakers (I think Diamond 9.1 or 10.1) and eventually a Dacmagic.

 

Now the questions are:

-.should I buy the Dacmagic, if I'm using the usb soundcard??

 

-.is 87 dollars too much for the Marantz? (I know it has great reviews, but I don't know how much these sell for)

 

-.Should I got for the 9.1 or 10.1? I know I should go for the 10's, but I live in a flat, so I'm not planning on playing loud music, these set up will be placed in my room which's mid size.

 

 

Any suggestions?
