tapasr_567783583008b
My wife and I attended the Utah symphony featuring Grieg’s piano concerto with Alexandra Dariescu. It was fantastic. I loved the music and would like to purchase an album either on vinyl, sacd or high Rez download of Grieg’s concerto. Does anyone have any recommendations of there favorite version? Thank you Link to comment
rando
This is generally considered a very good effort on SACD. You could probably never leave BIS offerings and come away very happy with the variety of performances of this piece in fact. This might be worth looking into as well if you prefer period instruments. sphinxsix 1 Link to comment
Daverz
Clifford Curzon : https://www.amazon.com/Grieg-Peer-Piano-Concerto-minor/dp/B0000042DZ Fjeldstad's Peer Gynt excerpts are wonderful, too. ...Oops, that's standard def. There was a classic Decca Lp, of course. Link to comment
Popular Post Musicophile
To me, the best version I’ve heard is with Leif Ove Andsnes and Maris Janssons: https://musicophilesblog.com/2015/07/03/two-new-recordings-of-the-grieg-piano-concerto/ AnotherSpin and sphinxsix 2 Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

Daverz
The Kozhukhin got a very positive review in Fanfare (for the Grieg mainly). Another one that got a rave review is Bavouzet https://www.chandos.net/products/catalogue/CHAN 5190 i'll admit that I'm not very fussy about recordings of this work, but I would avoid the disappointingly perfunctory Earl Wild recording. This is my all-time favorite recording of Grieg's PC. Had it on an old LP for years. Another special performance is from another Romanian, Radu Lupu. Krystian Zimerman with Karajan is memorable as well. semente 1 Link to comment
semente
I don't listen to Grieg's PC as much as I should because I really like this piece. I think that I'm going to give Lipatti's a try. Daverz
The Lipatti has a different cover on Tidal, but it's probably the same transfer: https://tidal.com/album/70250737 Link to comment

kopelli
I just found out that Lupu is scheduled to perform Beethoven’s 4th concerto in London next Feb. I am looking forward to seeing him live. Musicophile 1 Link to comment
