Popular Post STC
It is incredible how quickly we have evolved to accept what is not natural as natural. Although there are many pros for using headphones, it is not natural as how humans perceive sound. I still remember my first reaction when I listened to the hp for the first time. The voice was inside my head, but after so many years I never perceived the internalization effect unless I consciously attempted to localize the sound. Natural hearing involves HRTF, ti.e., a sound source must have time and level difference between the two ears. Headphones can reproduce the information accurately which produces the bigger soundstage and details. These micro details cannot be heard over loudspeakers due to the doubling of phantom images. This is often the reason why you hear more details with headphones compared to loudspeakers. However, one crucial factor is missing in headphones listening is where the direction finding role of the pinna is no longer at work. The good thing is we adapt quickly and it will not bother us after getting used headphones listening. Here is a video of the reaction listening to the headphones for the first time. It will take a while for the confusion to settle before the baby could enjoy the music. Watch the baby's eyes. There are other videos of babies first reaction to headphones. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-1162773/Babys-Rush-Babys-stunned-reaction-hearing-rock-music.html semente, Whitigir, buonassi and 1 other 3 1 ST My Ambiophonics System with Virtual Concert Hall Ambience Link to comment
STC
Use of headphones by Morten Lindberg. “According to Lindberg, headphones give him exactly the kind of information he needs, which is what the microphone is picking up at its current position. “You can do pretty much anything and have full control on headphones,” he adds. “I emphasize this because traditional professors say ‘you can't record or mix on headphones.’ Yes, you can, but you need to relate it to a speaker environment. Build a sense of transfer of functionality, which makes you secure on headphones. You also must have a very good mastering studio so you can make the final production sound like it did while recording on headphones.” https://en-us.sennheiser.com/protalkarticles-morten-lindberg Solstice380 1 ST My Ambiophonics System with Virtual Concert Hall Ambience Link to comment

Because they are not even close to being the same thing. I have already stated my position in post #122. In today's world, headphones is just practical for personal space. For recordings, they have their own reasons. End of the day, they all make music to sound good over speakers. ST My Ambiophonics System with Virtual Concert Hall Ambience Link to comment

His mastering room is surrounded by B&W speakers. Headphones are just to listen how it sounded at the microphone, like he said. semente 1 ST My Ambiophonics System with Virtual Concert Hall Ambience Link to comment
