beerandmusic
USB NOISE, DLNA, S/PDIF TIMING and Jitter Issues...could these be a thing of the past? 1TB sd cards are now available. How about a DAC with a SD Card source embedded? Who will be first one to market with a quality DAC with SD card for under $1K? Whoever makes it, please include an Ethernet port for control and a web browser interface! Or if you refuse to make a basic web player, at least make it play-fi enabled so we can control song selection with alexa, or play songs from windows pc....my eyes are too old to mess with the smartphones. Charente
'Quality' AND 'under $1k' ... might be tricky Main System: NAS or QOBUZ > BlueSound Node 2i > Schiit Gungnir MultiBit > PYST XLR > Schiit Mjolnir 2 or Gilmore Lite MK2 Office System: iMac > Audirvana > Schiit EITR + Audiophonics LPS25 > Metrum FLINT NOS DAC (DAC TWO chips) > Schiit Magni 3+ > Aeon Flow Open Loudspeaker System: NAIM Muso Gen 2 Link to comment
hdo
Do you mean media player or DAC? You need interface to navigate directories and select files. Which means you need computing devices and USB or like interface. Link to comment

hdo
Soon smart phones will have 512GB microSD cards. That will make a perfect media player cum phone. As LG pus good sound cards on phones, others will follow. You will get everything from smartphones. Link to comment

beerandmusic
^^^^ I decided to just get a ud7007 though...found a used one for $500....i will just use it with jriver ...supports gapless and dsd...it will get me by until the engineer figure out which direction they are going...i think i should be happy...if i can't hear much difference between the embedded dac and the wyred4sound dac, i will likely sell the w4s. Also decided i should upgrade my spinner since i just bought 1500 cd's...ack! Link to comment

Popular Post barrows
If you have an Ethernet port for control you have just introduced (supposed) problems into your (supposed) "ideal" set up. 1 TB is limited storage for a lot of peoples libraries. What "problem" do you think the SD card "solves"? There is nothing "wrong" with USB when done right, as long as the USB source is also done right. Optical Network provides superb isolation from a server. With an SD card that large you are going to have to have pretty robust onboard processing and caching to be able to navigate the library, so you have a basically just added a new noise source inside the DAC. I would rather see: A DAC circuit which is simple and uses minimal onboard processing for playback-such as Jussi's DSC-1 design, with a very well isolated (complete galvanic isolation) and shielded optical Network receiver, with a completely separate power supply (own transformer). Then have a powerful server in another part of the home, doing the oversampling/filtering required (DSD 256/512, maybe higher) for the simple (no additional processing) DAC circuit. marce and Ralf11 1 1 SO/ROON/HQPe: DSD 512-Sonore opticalModuleDeluxe-Signature Rendu optical with Well Tempered Clock--DIY DSC-2 DAC with SC Pure Clock--DIY Purifi Amplifier-Focus Audio FS888 speakers-JL E 112 sub-Nordost Tyr USB, DIY EventHorizon AC cables, Iconoclast XLR & speaker cables, Synergistic Purple Fuses, Spacetime system clarifiers.
