For example T+A DAC8 DSD when running in DSD mode... And I believe Holo Spring too... Apart from my DSC1, but that is not commercial affair. Since none of the DSD DACs I know change output state for every same output bit, they are essentially PWM DACs. Number of 1's and 0's define length of the PWM pulse. So the Mola-Mola DAC is actually a DSD DAC running at 3.125 MHz sampling rate (and already very much on the edge of capabilities of the three DSP processors in it). DSD is just a marketing term and not technical one, so I don't like to use it either. In digital domain I speak about SDM instead and when it comes to analog domain I rather speak about PWM. Compared to Kii Three, another DSD/PWM "power DAC" is the one in Estelon Lynx speakers... jabbr, johndoe21ro and simonklp 3 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
Popular Post Miska
There are couple of DSC-1 style commercial DACs. T+A DAC8 DSD, Holo Audio Spring / Cyan and Denafrips. Currently these run at max 24.576 MHz. But if someone wants to make one that supports higher rates, it would be interesting... (to run those DACs this way you need to run DSP externally) Although DSD512 already can give over 192 dB SNR in audio band and noise floor below analog noise up to around 250 kHz. 100 MHz DSD could give something like over 300 dB SNR in audio band and noise floor below analog noise up to around 1 MHz... I actually need to test this in digital domain just for fun to see how it performs! asdf1000, barrows and johndoe21ro 3 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
