DavidK
Noob here! I just bought 4 DVD-A discs. 2 were fine, two are surround disks with which I have a question. There are 14 files for 14 songs, but when converted to wav, I get 2 files each; 1 for center and 1 for the other 4 channels. I want to combine them for a 2 channel environment. There seems to be two option; "Merge Groups" and Stereo Downmix" Which is better? Link to comment
dennis88
as far as i know, you have to select "merge groups" to get one single file that contains all the orignal channels. if you select "stereo downmix", then all the channles will me downmixed to a file containing 2 channles only. Guest WATERLOGIC
Hi ! In cases like the one you mention you should try first "down mix to stereo" . In some cases this will not work (you will get a message saying > can't do) so you will have to choose "merge groups" (and of course convert to wave) and you will get 5.1 wav files. Those 5.1 files you can downmix to stereo in many different ways. Personally I found using DBamp pro converter or Foobar (with 5.1 to stereo plug-in) ((both are Windows apps)) to be the fastest way to achieve this. Hope this will help you further.
