Non-wireless set-up for Squeezebox

Hi all,

 

I currently run a Squeezebox wirelessly, with a MacBook as my storage device/server.

 

This is horribly temperamental, and I wondered if some kind soul would give me some advice on whether I can purchase an external hard drive which will run Squeeze Server and that can be connected non-wirelessly to the Squeezebox. Thus removing the need to have the Mac running all the time and the Squeezebox to run non-wirelessly?
