update:

the problem seems due to High Sierra, in fact I went back to A+ 3.14 and the bug was still there. I'm on High Sierra second update

Your preferences file may have been damaged, and thus explains the issue. The most likely cause for this is if you had two instances of Audirvana Plus (e.g. different versions) running simultaneously.

You can try deleting it: com.audirvana.audirvana-plus.plist

It is located in ~/Library/Preferences

To access ~/Library with the Finder, use its Go menu. While pressing the alt/option key, its Library command is revealed. Select it.

Be sure to reboot before launching again Audirvana Plus to get the preferences cache reloaded by macOS.

Done, and loaded Audirvana Plus. Keep your license code ready to enter it again and go further;  don't sync, if this is what you using and define all your preferences again.

Thank you Damien, but the behavior is the same, randomly A+ loose all the parameters. If I select again the right database file location all the customized parameters came back again

What are the settings needed to avoid what I think are stuttering issues caused by initial loading of the track & then the next track?

I think you are looking for the wrong file. It’s not the database file, but another file (.plist) on an other location, as you can read in the mail from Damien above.

I deleted the com.audirvana.audirvana-plus.plist file, then restarted the Mac. The behavior did not changed, all parameters are set to "factory value" included the database file location. This happens randomly.

When it happens, if I change just the database file location A+ is forced to restart and all the customized parameters are back again

I guess this is a specific problem for your situation. You could ask for support by the Audirvana support site. When I starten to solve this lookalike  problem, I deleted all the files at the database location and build a new one by starting a fres sync.

I wish you good luck!

With Onyx finally available for High Sierra, I just tried Direct Mode. Funny thing is I now find Direct Mode a bit more harsh and less detailed. I now prefer it off

Since  Apple making it difficult to use Direct Mode in recent OS's, maybe Damien just tweaked A+ so the software sounds best without it. It would make sense rather than make everyone jump through Terminal hoops for the best sound.

I think Damien should remove this option from the preferences menu.

I have been using Audirvana 3.1 on my Mac Mini for a while. I do not use iTunes integration, and all my AIFF/FLAC files are stored in Synology NAS drive. My Mac is connected to Cambridge CXA80 and my speakers.

I was tempted to get the CXN (Network Player), but it seems to be that A+ Remote will do the job? Please advise if A+ Remote will be connected to my Mac (via Bluetooth?) and I can manage my Music Library (over 1TB) via my iPad?

Furthermore, is there a view option for Artist List (instead of Album List) in Audirvana? This is one feature I missed from iTunes. Thanks!

pretty bad suggestion if you think about users with older OS X versions (Mavericks, El Capitan...) or those who do replace the audio kext file.

If at all the setting maybe could be hidden in some kind of „expert settings“ section in the prefs to make life easier for new users...

Yes, A+ Remote works (via Ethernet/wi-fi).

There are view options for both the main application and the remote to list by artist.

If it is not supported by the operating system anymore, you can’t go on supporting it forever. People have to move on...

I did, twice.

I have not received any email from you recently, though I've provided you with support more than a handful of times before.

Anyway, what is your precise issue?

This is exactly what is done in 3.1.5: Direct Mode option is hidden when it is checked to be not available.

So users on Sierra or HighSierra who have patched the kext still see the option.

I didn't notice this new feature, very nice!

I have been using Audirvana since v3 came out and especially love the really simple & usable interface it provides along with the sound quality. I am using the following setup Audirvana (macbook pro) -> Aune X1s -> Nuforce Ha-200 -> HD6xx. For those who're not familiar, Aune is a sabre dac and to me it feels like it (more than) sometimes gives excess highs and is sibilant. I tried using Jriver Media Center 23 in the same setup and it feels like the sibilans/highs aren't as bad (and is a bit bassy-in a good way).

When I try to break down the differences, Audirvana seems to have a more forward presentation of the vocals and the transients aren't as smooth as MC. I understand that in a different/better setup MC might sound a bit polite compared to A+.

Is there a way to get rid of sibilance. I am fine if resolution goes down a bit. I tried changing integer mode, it din't help much.

The following is my A+ config

Integer mode: 1

Exclusive access mode: true

Direct Mode: true

OS: Sierra 10.12.6

izotope params: 150/130k/1.02/200/0.86

Upsampling: Max sample rate upsampling

MC config: (haven't touched too many things)

Sample rate: upsampled to max

Exclusive access mode: true

Integer mode: true

Try this:

Integer Mode: 2

change in izotope parameters:

steepness: 31

cutoff:  0.96 (or 0.97)

Anti Aliasing: 100
