Audirvana 3.1

Audirvana 3.1 keeps crashing immediatelly after starting a track. I have been using Audirvana since a year and have had no issues of any kind with any of the previous versions. I am on OSX Sierra, with Direct mode enabled through the hack.

Sorry for you, All is still good for me with 3.1

On beta High Sierra, Direct Mode is on with trick, All converting to DSD128

with external Hard Drive formatted like macOS 10.13 system (APFS).

Where could I download the 3.1.1 version, as 3.0.7 and 3.0.99 are crashing immediately ? (I can't even use the update menu). I'm also using the realtime setup for AU.

Done.

Still no AU.

And another bug : it plays alsways the next track. I think I never saw a A+ version in my system bugged like this one...and I'm a customer from the beginning (the 0.x.x versions...)

Posted that for another user who wanted to start from scratch...

There are many things you can trash for specific problems. This is what i found to reset pretty much A+ like new...

If you have Playlists that are important export them first to desktop and
save them in a folder... when A+ is reset, you can re-import them back.
sadly to this day, the folders they were in is not back, you have to do it again...

Before doing this, maybe you should not connect after deleting those files to Roon or others...

Install A+ alone with your database... if working, log to Roon or else after :)

Apple hide the Home Folder in User Library at some time depending on OS System...
When you have clicked your Home Folder, and cannot see the Library Folder in there,
just do a ''cmd J'' to show the folder settings preferences and see at the bottom...
click Show Library Folder and then you'll have access to the rest forever :)

Starting for new A+:
Go to the main Library Folder... PrivilegedHelperTools folder...
Trash All the files in that folder (that folder install SysOptimizer)

Go to the main Library Folder...LaunchDaemons folder...
Trash All the files in that folder for Audirvana (SystemOptimizer and prefs files)

Go to User... Home Folder... Library... Applications Support... Audirvana Folder...
Trash All the files in that folder (that is your database of music, back it up!)

Go to User... Home Folder... Library... Preferences...
trash com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.plist in that folder (those are A+ software preferences)

Go to User... Home Folder... Library... Caches… com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus
trash the files in that folder

Restart MAC just to be sure... This will reset pretty much Audirvana like new.

When choosing library at first it will sync in top right main window under the logo...
LET IT GO, even better don't try to adjust windows or edit files, even playing music while
it is not finished... you'll see the progress bar going... Could be long the first time
depending on how large your library is, and MAC is fast or not... go to sleep... then see :)

People still with crashes on 3.1.1 should try deleting their A+ preferences...

Apple hide the Home Folder in User Library at some time depending on OS System...
When you have clicked your Home Folder, and cannot see the Library Folder in there,
just do a ''cmd J'' to show the folder settings preferences and see at the bottom...
click Show Library Folder and then you'll have access to the rest forever. You can also click on Finder G0 Menu while holding the ALT key on the keyboard to see appearing the Library in the menu...

Close A+

Go to User... Home Folder... Library... Preferences...
trash com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.plist in that folder.

Restart MAC.

Reopen A+.

I posted that also before, but it is always good to remember it:

Everyday that i change something in my Albums Tags in A+ or in my Preferences of A+ (like Izotope settings),

i always backup those 2  prefrerences somewhere, if something get corrupted or messed up

i put those 2 in their places after having closed A+ and i restart the MAC, and i'm back like before...

Go to User... Home Folder... Library... Applications Support... Audirvana Folder...
Backup that folder (that is your database of music).
Go to User... Home Folder... Library... Preferences...
Backup com.audirvana.Audirvana-Plus.plist in that folder (those are A+ software preferences).

And yes All my Smart Playlists are saved 'Exported' somewhere too.

Click a Playlist... go to File Menu... Export Playlist... yes one by :) one.

Thank you Damien for your reply!

I have “Macs fan control” “Keep drive spinning”, “Disk Sensei”, “Onyx” (as you suggested).

My Mini is an audio source only computer (and video sometimes) and I do not use it for anything else...

I want to mention again that with A+ 2.6.8 these issues do not exist!!

Is this all after you tried my things or you didn't done it yet?

because if it is just with v3, it might just be some corrupted prefs passing from 2.6.8 to 3 ??

I have done all the things you say except the reset PRAM procedure!

When I waited for three "bongs" it lead me to a reinstall  MacOS window!

I found in the net that I should release the buttons on 2nd "bong"

Anyway after that I trashed all the files you said but in the last location there was an empty folder as shown in the screenshot (org.sparkle....) not only A+ related files! I trashed it too but just mentioning!

Well after all those things for about half an hour of use the situation seems better! (2nd sc/shot)

But there is still compression of RAM

If you think I did something wrong I have no problem doing it all again!

Strange for the PRAM, i always did that for 30 years now :).

you hear the first Bong when computer start, you hold the keys right after, before the apple logo, then hold on for 2 more bong,

but as you mentionned and here too they seems to say release after the second... In fact you know when it works, because the sound of the Mac is reset too louder...

I think you should do it because it is related to the memory and other things as you can read in this article...

http://osxdaily.com/2010/11/15/reset-pram-mac/

but it looks better already :)

by desintalling 2.6.8 if you just mean to throw the application in the trash,

it won't change a thing, the 2 can be in the applications folder at the same time, but with different name for sure...

I never heared the bong louder...

So you think it was not done 100% corectly?

the keys have to be on before the Apple logo, then you'll hear the second bong louder, it is obvious for me because i keep de mac sound in the low range... so, when it's reset, it is way louder :)

it just reset the Mac memory, Cache, Keyboard, Mouse... to like new...

and this is what you have for troubles like said in the article... your memory

I've been playing some music for a while and the RAM usage seems OK.

No compression or swap or enormous peaks!

Untill now...

Let's see...

the other very SAD and annoying for me is that I paid almost 50€ for A+3 "upgrade" and the remote and I am having big problems with both

the remote does not connect or looses connection 9/10 times!!!

Try removing the remote app from your iphone. Close iphone. Go to app store and reinstall A+ remote and see. I never have problem connection with remote... just that it doesn’t classify albums by date. Arf!

I agree with you with your first part.

I don't use Roon or Streaming services or newly 3.1 advantage, but i was asking myself this today:

How many people have been having problem with crashing recently, with system optimizer with the last update,

is it small people here complaining ? or is it many people talking here for the silent people :)

Computer Audiophile are for those people i think... when everything is going well, you don't have to post here :)

i also check on A+ own forum... and those questions also appears there.

I agree also the A+ is a good software

better for me than JRiver for Sound and better than HQPlayer for library...

I also think that Damien might reach the sky too fast... Many things should be tighten before playing for PCs :)

i don't have any problem now with A+ even on High Sierra Beta...

Way better for ME than Sierra. My Direct Mode is on also, again with the trick.

No more music silence for 2 seconds happening for no reason that i had with Sierra.

I upsampled everything to DSD128. My library is all perfectly done to my taste...

Yes Damien made me worked for it with is updates of library in the past, but now it's all good.

I know how to backup my library and settings and to backup my working perfectly OSX system if anything Happens.

Just need to make it sound good again in one month, moving to a new house and be happy with nobody upstair

walking on my head :)

Yes, it cost quite a bit more than A+. The price difference was worth it to me.

Oh, I'll keep A+ around for when I go mobile with my laptop. But I am done paying for upgrades.

No one need Direct Mode if you don't think you need it... even for myself, every changes i made, with Direct Mode or playing with other users izotope settings they gave, while upsampling, why upsampling in first place you might say, because i'm no specialist in those field, my DAC seems to sounds as good as every changes i do ... it is all in the brain that rule the software keyboard... sorry not english speaking first... :)

... Hmm, you already pay every month that get that library look, not the sound you want since you said A+ sound as good...

but you can't get mobile with that fee...

Anyway, everyone is able these days to get what they want... i have all my music that i collected over the years (i'm 54) bought many CD twice (even had them in LP version before) to found out that remasters often sucks since the 2000 and + years, crushed dynamics. I don't stream since i have what i want... yes i love seeing in JRiver Artist discography or biography, but it is easy to find that live in Google now and free... I think Roon and others soft like that are just for easy people who are willing to pay to get what they want... nothing wrong with that if you can afford it...

Yes it took me maybe a year or so with Audirvana and Damien rewritten is library soft, to get my library straight and perfect,

but now it is perfect, and i don't have to pay for it :)

I think A+ sound great but look less than those paying soft... JRiver looks good like those soft, but sounds less good than A+, I think for myself that HQplayer sounds the best but library really is not there really... so for me A+ rules... and YES it as bugs that should be addressed before reaching the sky :)

i wrote all that at 2 am in the morning having a little rhum while enjoying my music... looking again at what i wrote and what you wrote just to be sure not saying comments to bug you for no reason, it is not my intention.... Why? Speed Racer you are still here complaining if Roon is so good, enjoy it and tell it in Roon's thread, people enjoy mostly A+ here...

You're probably wondering
 why I'm here

Hi guys, I am hoping someone can help me with A+ v3.1.1.  I installed it the other day and I am enduring constant crashes, pinwheels, audio stuttering and dropouts.  I used to run v1.5.12 and had few if any problems.  I skipped v2 and just the other day installed v3.1.1 on my mid-2012 MBP (i5 @ 2.5 GHz) running Yosemite v10.10.5 with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.  I was looking forward to streaming TIDAL as well as FLAC and DSD files stored on my Melco N1ZH60 to my PS Audio DirectStream DAC with Bridge II network card, but so far it has been an exercise in frustration.  I am an experienced computer audio buff since the Squeezebox 2 days.  I have used MinimServer, Roon, Logitech Media Server, JRiver, Kazoo, A+ v1.5.x, Foobar, Amarra, XLD, xACT, Bubble UPnP, and any number of other audio software programs.  Am I doing something wrong or missing something with A+ v3.1.1?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
