rayhil
My old Linksys RT54G router is struggling to keep up with my family’s appetite for internet connections and bandwidth. As a result, I’ve begun shopping for a new router and found the WRT610N. http://www.shoplinksys.com/Wireless-N-Simultaneous-Dual-N-Band-Router-Gigabit-Ports-Storage-Link-WRT610N-Routers_stcVVproductId53779501VVcatId543860VVviewprod.htm What intrigued me about this product is its ability to connect a USB 2.0 drive. Ignoring any need for NAS or multiple access to the drive, would this be an effective solution to remove a USB drive from the listening room, connect it to the router and simply run an Ethernet cable to the computer? Any concerns using this method? Then, I could also test the wireless N and see if it works effectively for streaming. Thoughts appreciated. rayhil
I hope there's no strong objection to my effectively re-posting, but hoping for a bit of feedback here. As the music is on a Mac and everyone else in the house is on Windows machines, NAS and sharing not as important. bottlerocket
I think this would work fine. FYI, the Apple Airport Extreme has the same capability as this Linksys. To me this is the same as getting a NAS. If you use ethernet, it would be fool proof. Link to comment
