sbenyo
I am trying to setup HQPlayer on windows 10 with another windows 10 as NAA. I am running the networkauodiod.exe on the NAA PC and try to connect from the other PC. No matter what I do I the HQPlayer cannot see the NAA. I tried to add firewall permissions, run without antivirus but with not success. Any ideas? Link to comment
Miska
Check that at both ends firewall doesn't block the traffic and that multicast in general works on your network. Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
sbenyo
I disable firewall and it still doesn't work. I don't know how to test multicast. I did find a simple program to send packets and I could send packets to the NAA host:port and I see that it got them. I still don't understand why HQPlayer itself cannot see it. Link to comment
sbenyo
After trying different setting on the router I can see the NAA from sometime but it is very unstable and keeps coming and going. I changed from wifi connection to cable and things got better. I can now see the NAA and it is more stable. Now I am trying to play DSD... I could get as high as DSD128 with minor lags but DSD256 & DSD512 are completely staggering. CPU varies between 20%-50%. I am using an i7-quad (old) with 8GB and SSD. It is strange that I cannot play even DSD128 properly. I saw some people saying that minimum specs they could run DSD are much lower. Link to comment

asdf1000
Hi @Miska I'm struggling to get Windows NAA working. Run-time is installed. ASIO driver is spotted by NAA. ASIO driver works fine with DSD512 with Roon too. See attached screenshots ? I only use certified USB 2.0 cables and I tried multiple. All Windows 10 firewalls disabled and still can't get it working. Asus RT-AC88U router. Multicast enabled. Link to comment

Maybe the HQPlayer machine has firewall blocking the response? Although here it was found, but something is not right if the same device is shown as "current" and still listed separately, so NAA is somehow failing to use the driver. A bit of a mystery. There is Roon ROCK Roon OS normally on that NUCi7 , if that's what you mean? But HQPe boots on USB and I disabled the legacy boot (which Roon ROCK OS uses) so HQPe boots first every time. Anyway the screenshot and log don't seem to match. Because in screenshot the NAA is found, but the log doesn't indicate that. Does the Windows NAA with Chord driver work from any other machine? The NAA daemon may not work with exactly all ASIO drivers, because it is minimal console process and passes NULL handle as the window handle. asdf1000 1 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment

I remembered that for Roon's ROCK installation, there were some BIOS adjustments needed. So i thought I'd load the default BIOS settings. After that I had to do was disable 'secure boot' for HQPe to boot from USB. After that everything worked. Well worked until.... to be continued on HQPe thread ? asdf1000
Hi @Miska or anyone that can help I'm looking to setup a Windows 10 NAA but I want to disable internet access - and just keep intranet access obviously. What's the quickest and easiest way to do this? I want quick/easy so that I can quickly/easily re-enable internet access for when I want to manually periodically check for Windows updates etc. Thanks in advance Link to comment

What's the quickest and easiest way to do this? One way is to configure manual static IP address and leave gateway address undefined. This way there shouldn't be default route pointing to the gateway address. You can verify this then with "route print". You can do the same for both IPv4 and IPv6. For IPv6 you can use some local IP too, like for example fc00::1, fc00::2, etc. (64-bit prefix) asdf1000 1 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
