Black Six
I've been waiting for a 128 GB iPod touch for years now. Once my Classic bites the dust I'll probably look into picking one of these up. I'm the kind of person who wants to have all of my music in ALAC with me as often as I can. I'm not sold on paying for a streaming service just yet, especially with limited data plans and working in a place with spotty/slow cell service. Link to comment
Carla
I'm interested in the nano for audiobooks, but will it still support them now that Apple has moved audiobook playing to iBooks? Link to comment
kirkmc
Yes, iBooks only plays them on iOS 8. Earlier versions of iOS still play them in the Music app, as do other devices. Kenji
I'm also a happy iPod Classic long-time user. Kirk, doesn't $400 seem pretty pricey for the 128GB model, since 128 GB SD ram from SanDisk and others sells for $70 these days? I would love a lower priced model with less bells and whistles. I don't need the camera, I already carry one in my iPhone. A card slot would be great, but that just won't be coming, will it? I just want a dedicated large capacity music player, and for now I guess that would be my iPod Classic. I hope it has years left in it. Link to comment
Mark Zimmer
I continue to be disgusted that the Classic was abandoned when it should have been improved with a solid-state hard drive and larger capacity. Link to comment
kirkmc
Indeed. Look at what Jason Snell did: Revitalizing an old iPod with OWC’s iFlash adapter I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Author of Take Control of macOS Media Apps. Co-host of The Next Track podcast. Link to comment
Galley
I once resurrected a dead iPod by reformatting it on a Mac and then back on a PC. That wiped out any corruption. Link to comment
