kirkmc
Also, some people are seeing it a lot (like me), and others aren't seeing it at all. I haven't yet figured out what variable could be at play. kirkmc
I think it's simply that your account has a database, and that database contains information about your music. What I think happened with iTunes 12.2 is that for some people with iTunes Match accounts, the database got corrupted. I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. kirkmc
I think you'll find a lot of information here: http://www.mcelhearn.com/when-ios-devices-replace-artwork-for-some-of-your-albums/ In that article, I examined the actual sqlite database on my iPhone, and you can see that there are artist, album, and track IDs, all of which are obtained from a central iTunes Store database, at least when syncing with network access. But, there are not multiple IDs for songs; each one is present just once, or at least there's a canonical version that is used. Hence the songs that come back with the wrong album tag, or with different versions than the ones matched. robdbirch 1 I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. kirkmc
In iTunes 12.2, you could hide a track from within your library: Hide iTunes Store Purchases from Within your iTunes Library This feature was removed in 12.2.1, my guess is because it confused people. It may explain what happened to you. I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Author of Take Control of macOS Media Apps. Co-host of The Next Track podcast. Link to comment
