HiFiInsider
I read somewhere that MAX does a better job at ripping CDs. I did some blind listening through headphones, all files to AIFF and I can't hear the difference. Anyone here thinks MAX is better than iTunes? http://www.youtube.com/hifiguy528/videos Link to comment
Audio_ELF
The commonly stated belief is not that Max will do a better rip than iTunes, but that that Max gives you more assurance about the rip as it reports errors, etc so you can see which CDs have been problematic. Some people do think that EAC or dbPowerAmp give better results than iTunes, but this has never been shown possible beyond listening. Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
I. G.
If the CD disc is flawless, no scratches, no holes in the reflective layer then probably the ripper is irrelevant. But this is not always the case. I was able to rip BADLY scratched disc with XLD that put iTunes into endless loop/freeze. ? MBP ? M2Tech hiFace ? Heed Q-PSU/Dactilus 2 ? Heed CanAmp ?
