Thrasher
I'm looking at some very high efficiency (100dB), single driver speakers. How much power is necessary to drive these to moderate sound levels in a reasonably small (150 sq. ft.) room? Is it possible to use just the output from a high quality DAC (Wavelength, Weiss, Berkeley)? If not, can the output stages of these DACs be modified to increase output and power a 100dB speaker directly? Thrasher Link to comment
wots
I have my Klipschorns connected just to the speaker wire and pick up lots of music over the air. You can do the same because your speakers are 100dB. Just connect them to speaker wire (very long speaker wire) and listen. Link to comment
Wavelength
Trasher, No you need a good tube amp to drive the speakers. Most dacs, mine included are much higher and have much lower output signal required for speakers. Thanks Gordon J.
