Popular Post audiobomber
I fine-tuned my sub crossovers with REW DSP yesterday, my best and final attempt. Tweaks are finished, very good cables, three linear PSU's, two power conditioners. The IsoAcoustics stands tilt the speakers down to the listening seat. Upgrading the main components would cost more than I am willing to spend, so I guess I'm done. Popular Post Liam
I have been an audiophile since the 1970’s, starting of with a Philips system and moving fairly quickly to Linn Sondek, Naim pre/power 250 and Gale speakers. The gear was sold to buy Ham Radio gear in the early 1980’s, but returned again to hi-fi. The current system details are below in the signature. Popular Post biosailor
A few years ago, after using headphones exclusively, I started my two-channel journey with a complicated setup of an Aurender N100 streamer, a pre-amp, power amp and, at that time a pair of ATC SCM 11s. The setup sounded quite good, but it was unwieldy. Two years ago, I decided to simplify my system, so I bought the super-integrated Devialet Expert 120. The Aurender N100 went, as I was never quite satisfied with it and I replaced it with a budget Allo USBridge Signature, fed by a Shanti linear power supply. Also, my SCM 11s went and I got an offer for a used ATC SCM 19 v1 that are mounted on bespoke stands. The Allo USBridge Sig runs RopieeeXL in conjunction with Audirvana running on a Mac mini 2018. That's an extremely smooth sounding system and I am super happy with it. I also have a SonicTransport i5 running Roon to feed via Ethernet into my Devialet. But I hardly use the SonicTransport anymore as I prefer Audirvana 3.5 in terms of sound quality. The saxophone in the picture is a retirement project and it is a lot of fun tp practice on a daily basis. jcn3, Nikhil, DuckToller and 4 others 1 6 Link to comment
Popular Post phusis
My former, passively configured Simon Mears Audio Uccello speakers about half a year ago were replaced with a pair of fully actively run Electro-Voice TS940D LX pro cinema speakers (they had been used in a cinema in Germany). Some may scoff at pro cinema speakers in a home environment, not least intended for both music and Home Theater duties (sans surrounds), but these are underrated gems and a great addition more to my sonic liking. They sport two parallel coupled 15" woofers and a 2" exit compression driver - so, a 2-way design - which are crossed at just below 800Hz. The tapped horn subs take over from ~85Hz on down and are high-passed at 20Hz. Filter slopes are 36dB/octave all the way through, though with a different filter type on the sub HP. Present, coherent, effortless and very dynamic sounding, and with great insight, overall tonality and soundstage. cjf, Middy, Confused and 5 others 2 6 Source: Synology NAS > DIY Mediaserver • Software: JRiver MC31/Fidelizer Pro • Optical output: ASUS Xonar AE 24/192 • DAC/preamp: Blue Cheese Audio Roquefort • Digital cross-over: Xilica XP-3060 • Speakers: Electro-Voice TS9040D LX (for active config.) • Subwoofers: 2 x MicroWrecker Tapped Horns • EV horns amp: MC² Audio T2000 • EV bass amp: MC² Audio T1500 • Subs amp: MC² Audio T2000 • EV horns cables: Mundorf silver/gold 1mm solid-core • IC: Mundorf silver/gold XLR/Mogami 2549 XLR/Cordial CMK Road 250 XLR • Subs and EV bass cable: Cordial CLS 425 • Power cables: 15AWG Solid-core wire w/IeGo pure copper plugs (DIY) Link to comment

Popular Post cjf
A few updates to the system, namely the addition of a new Merging HAPI DA with Premium Card (no AD Card yet) but still use the Lynx Hilo for those duties (Room Measurememts). I was on the fence for about a year before buying the HAPI because I was afraid of it not being able to do everything I needed it to do but it turns out that it can, and then some. I suspect this has everything to do with their new MAD ASIO driver that is now multi-client. It took a few days to figure out the basics and I still have much to experiment with but for now I have the basics up and running to allow for full operation of my 4ch setup with two mains and two subs with Audiolense/Roon Convolution and DSP volume control. This unit has replaced a combo of a Lynx Hilo and Benchmark DAC3 and so far I am getting a sense that the HAPI offers more detail retrieval than the other DACs offer and I haven't even gotten around to trying the DSD256 capabilities of the HAPI yet. In my mind this is quite impressive considering the competition it replaced so no complaints there. All I can say is that its real nice to be able to cut the cord of needing USB for everything. I've been wanting a divorce from USB for years. Highly recommended DAC Nikhil, jcn3, AudioDoctor and 1 other 1 3 My Audio System -Last Updated May 20 2021 Link to comment
