Which DACs bypass digital filtering?

- Armature Asterion (same as Holo Spring)

Please, can you shed some light on this?

Under this name I have seen so far only a model with the old Spring1 technique but not with the new Spring2 one.

Are both built up to the same standards by the same manufacturer or is Armature somewhat inferior to Holo?

Thanks

Hi Matt,

The Asterion is a slightly tweaked version of the "old" Spring 1:

L’Armature Asterion est une version customisée du Holo Audio spring (en level 1 chez les distributeurs qui vendent des versions gonflées, avec notamment un transfo en argent au level3, ajout jugé discutable par le staff audiophonics, qui est resté avec la version standard, très homogène). Armature a fait quelques modifs, avec une entrée USB XMOS plus musclée et un afficheur différent. Il semblerait également que les connecteurs soient différents.

Thanks Ricardo,

do you know if they will launch a tweaked version of Spring2 as well and if yes, when?

Sorry, I have no idea if they intend to update the current version.

Maybe you can send them an email: http://armature.audio/contactez-nous/

I asked if they have plans to launch a tweaked version of the new Holo Spring2.

The reply:

"To be honest no, since for us the gap is at best minimal."

I believe they include a USB A to USB-C cable...  e.g. if your source only has USB-C ports.

Regarding USB 3.0, I don't know if/why USB3.0 would be important for audio though...

I am just wondering:

Why MQA support?

Why not to establish USB-C for input and output?

They like the more solid connection of the male type-A port. I don't have a problem with that to be honest since they supply the cables and 3rd party are very easy to find.

USB-C is used for charging...

And balanced output for connecting to amps and active speakers! Cool for a little Thing.

Sorry, just one last comment:

I appreciate the policy of Schiit with new products:

No MQA and USB-C for in and out (Schiit Urd)

What is this? Google isn't being helpful to me today.

Urd is the upcoming CD transport with USB output.

Further DDC: USB input to AES/SPDIF output and USB input to USB Unison output.

Thanks Matt. I am keeping valve DACs off the list, any other models to join the R1 NOS?

AFAIK, there are no valve DACs from AGD, they have valve amps only. Other DAC models to join are the R8 and R7.
