Popular Post Audiophile Neuroscience
Okay, I am posting this 'blind' as I have not read all the other comments. I have discussed the sound with my friend Audiotruth who had already bought one. His verdict was positive, I think overall "more organic" sounding he said. I did also read some comments on the LPS1, with which I have paired the ISOREGEN, and can not remember exact details except it compared favorably with the JS2 (which I also own). That all said, yes I had a positive expectation bias. As AlexC knows I had some initial difficulties getting the server to recognize the ISO + USPCB. As it turns out this was likely an issue at my end, NOT an UPTONE problem. Anyway, I initially got it playing with a usb curious link cable instead of the uspcb adapter. No idea why, just did. My preamp and amp were dead cold. My immediate response when music flowed from my Vivid G2's was WOW, that is *different*. There was more resolution, air between instruments, more bass definition, less dark, more open and sound stage expanded a little. OTOH I was sweating a little at the slight loss of warmth I was used to.A little dry perhaps. The next day I figured out the usb recognition issue and got it playing *with the uspcb*. I immediately left the room to let things play . I could hear it playing from where I was in a different section of the house and it was just too tempting so after an hour or so I returned. I sat there grinning! I am still grinning. The sound was already excellent in every way prior to the ISOREGEN thanks to the Vivid G2's driven by fine components (including a REGEN) and recent extensive room treatments and vibration isolators courtesy of Barry Diament. How could it get better I thought? Especially how could it get better after my initial very first impression of less warmth?? Well it is better. It is just more *right*. Indeed my initial 'concerns' were no longer present. I mused to myself....it doesn't sound warm *or* cool, full or lean, etched or blurred, analytical or organic, analogue or digital .In fact, HiFi terms simply seemed less relevant. Its just sounded more real, right to my ear. Just a step closer to suspending disbelief. More natural/neutral, not euphonic. More in room "there, there" and more "me being there" at the source. In a word, Golly. And I have another two LPS1's to throw in somewhere (tough job but someone has to do it ). Now, I am not attributing all of this to the ISOREGEN/LPS1/USPCB. In fairness it has come at the end of a long list of amazing other products and treatments. I will say it has pulled its weight in an otherwise very high-end system. For the dollar value, it is punching well above its weight, a knockout. Congrats to Mr Swenson and Mr Crespi. darkless and kennyb123 1 1 Sound Minds Mind Sound Link to comment

For some further grinning and good feelings, now go play that entire Ryan Smith mastered Nina Simone SACD I sent you! Hi Alex, Grinning indeed. You know how I love to find these old gems! Thank you so much!! Nina's debut amazing pianist and vocals from 1957, great sound. It threw me at first with stereo rhythm section seemingly, then vocals from left speaker and more piano from right. At least I hope this is the way it was mastered from the original mono...lol. Thank you David Sound Minds Mind Sound Link to comment
