As such, I have an idea for a custom faceplate that allows you to mount both and have them look as one in your audio rack. Please provide feedback here so I can gauge interest in it. that would mean 2 versions, one with ultracap and one without? Link to comment

Popular Post cat6man
I had a chance to do some serious listening with an audio bud (Alan) yesterday, including some time where he had the system (and sweet spot) to himself while I took my daughter to a dentist appointment. He has been helping me for a few years to update my 20 year old system(i've replaced everything over the past 3 years) and helped me with selecting my DAC and speaker cables. I value his opinion because he seems to hear audio differences in a similar manner to what I hear. While he and I may value different aspects of sound in a different hierarchy, we tend to agree on what we are hearing. Initial setuup--ultraRendu with original wall wart power supply, mapleshade usb cable to TotalDAC D1-dual. HQplayer streaming to ultraRendu in NAA mode (makes a big difference!) Previously I had a microRendu with LPS-1 power supply, and the ultraRendu was a nice upgrade, more of the good things the microRendu brough. I had not previously listened to the ultraRendu without the LPS-1. The sound was quite good, but then.......... I added the LPS-1 back in and the improvement was not at all subtle. Increases in detail, air, decay into black, improved bass but particularly an increase in detail and space with a very integrated sound. Not an improvement here or there but across the entire soundstage and frequency spectrum. Alan thought it was the best he had ever heard and said on virtually every track that he was hearing things he'd never heard before on well known tracks. On BS&T's 'you made me so very happy' (a song i've always found harsh sounding), the organ sound is so mesmerizing I listened to the entire track and Alan was in heaven since he likes the song. The re-mix of 'fixing a hole' and 'when i'm 64' displayed more details, without calling attention to any one instrument. Keith Jarrett Trio's "the cure" was "absolutely perfect", as were the vocals of Joan Baez ('baby blue') and Alison Krauss ('forget about it'). The chorus at the beginning of 'diamonds on the soles of his shoes' was wide and deep, you felt you could see the layering. Aretha Franklin's 'natural woman' vocal was in the room and the intro to Dire Straights 'down to the waterline' had beautiful width, depth and echo/decay that went on forever. The vocal modulations/nuances of 'guantanamera' (Weavers) was spellbinding as were the harmonies. This is the best my system has ever sounded. The improvment of the lps-1 to the ultraRendu was so dramatic that i cannot imagine not having the lps-1 (or something in its league) as an integral part of the ultraRendu. I can happily live with this system for a long long time. Albrecht, Blake, Matias and 1 other 3 1 Link to comment

The ultrarendu sort of "slaps you in the face" with the differences it brings, so they are harder to go unnoticed is this comparison with both using a LPS-1? Link to comment

They said it was top of the line and that it was a "plush". I would love to justify my action, but that thing is a "firm" and I hate it. I hate it so much I dragged it out of the room into my dining room (I'm staring at the stupid thing as a type this email) and I went out and bought another bed. I bought a SleepNumber bed and I love it! My SleepNumber is 35. If you think audiophiles hyperbole is interesting you should hear me and my buddies talking about these beds:) agree re: sleepnumber beds! i love mine. however, don't you want (dare i say "need") a hi-rez mattress where you can have steps of 1 instead of 5? finding the "optimum" firmness and maybe you'd really love 36 or 37!
