Daccord
Do you have this album? sphinxsix 1 Link to comment
Daccord
Russian Orthodox liturgical music is not for everyone, but you could give his Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom (opus 41) a listen. I have the CD linked below, which I quite enjoy, although I haven't compared it with any other performances. https://www.discogs.com/Pyotr-Ilyich-Tchaikovsky-Liturgy-of-St-John-Chrysostom-Op-41/release/7747679 Link to comment

I must go back to Shostakovich some day cause I have mainly quite old recordings of (just a couple of) his symphonies, usually with not very convincing sonics. BTW I really wonder where is @AnotherSpin , we're discussing Russian composers, here.. Well here's my spin. I love the Shostakovitch symphonies, but for a real treat try his string quartets. Popular Post Daccord
If early 21st century is modern enough for you, Mitsuko Uchida has released some lovely Schubert recordings. Hugo9000, sphinxsix and Musicophile 1 1 1 Link to comment
Daccord
Thanks for inspiring me to listen to some Schubert solo piano again. This one is very good: sphinxsix 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Daccord
I really like Dvorak's trios and string quartets. This thread got me curious, so I sorted my Dvorak collection by number of plays. If you group all the performances of the trios together they came out on top, but the album that has the most plays is this: christopher3393, sphinxsix and Musicophile 2 1 Link to comment

After ripping all 71 discs I listened to one cantata (not one CD) every day, which took most of a year. There may be cantatas that aren't in this "complete" set, as some were lost and others are fragments, but I don't think that's what you meant. sphinxsix 1 Link to comment
