Some of us were discussing high prices and lack of value at Axpona this weekend. So how about a review of some budget systems: Audioengine, Schiit, iFi, Emotiva, Elac etc? Actives, non actives. Say $750 to $2.5k for a complete system. And by review I mean also compare them to "audiophile" systems costing considerably more. Not just a comparison of bass output, etc., but also a description of how enjoyable the less expensive systems are and what you do or don't miss when no listening to a high end rig. Why? B/c I think a description of what you are or aren't missing by being a "cheap audiophile" would be very useful. It might help some people decide they can go with budget instead of worrying about getting into big bucks territory.
