The Computer Audiophile
Holy schnikies! As Chris Farley would say. This is pretty cool. I love that they are also offering wav and aiff files. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
flatmap
Yes, this is great news. Chandos has a great catalog and Pristine is building a remarkable collection of historic offerings. I cherish the idea that we're going to get access to high resolution downloads from a deep deep back catalog -- that just wouldn't see the light of day otherwise. Pristine has some remarkable recordings on line. It's mostly classical -- and I would say don't miss the NGS recordings -- but they also have a few jazz and blues recordings. http://www.pristineclassical.com/index2.html EDIT: A number of these historical offerings are from the era of acoustic (not electronic) recording. However there's been a terrific effort to remaster and they've done a wonderful job in really pulling out the performances in spite of the technical challenges. They've got a treasure trove here. If you look through the NGS offerings there are two String Quartet movements (one Anton Grigorevich Rubenstein and one Raff) offered for free in FLAC format, so you can test these out first hand. 2013 MacBook Pro Retina -> {Pure Music | Audirvana} -> {Dragonfly Red v.1} -> AKG K-702 or Sennheiser HD650 headphones.
