I am using the Program Jussi recommended via my Windows 10Pro LapTop. I think there might be an issue with the Thumb Drive, it is in a state where windows can’t read or determine the size of the Volume.

If you unpack it with 7-Zip and then write the .img file to a drive using balena Etcher, then it should work. It is normal that Windows cannot read the drive.

Then from BIOS settings make sure you have selected the thumb drive UEFI as boot device. You may also need to disable secure boot, depending on the default pre-rolled keys in your UEFI BIOS.

I was stimulated by the mention of support for https streaming in a recent update to try some internet radio streams.

I had no luck at all inserting url's on the input screen but was able to play internet radio mp3 streams to HQPe via an app such as Creation 5.

I was disappointed that HQP does not support some of the higher quality streams with AAC or FLAC, noting that ffmpeg can apparently be used in custom builds.

These streams can, however, be transcoded using MinimServer with results that I have found to be very worthwhile.

I would still like to be able to route audio from video playback via HQPe but this will require further reseach!

For example one radio I test with is https://somafm.com and there you can go for example to https://somafm.com/groovesalad/, right-click on the 256k MP3 stream link, select "Copy link address" (or similar) and then paste that into URI entry either on HQPlayer Embedded input page or on HQPlayer Desktop (and hit enter on Desktop or Apply button on Embedded). There's some lag depending on how many servers on the list time out, but in few seconds it should start playing.

Where do you find FLAC stream that doesn't work? HQPlayer supports both bare FLAC and FLAC in OGG-container.

AAC is not supported as it is still covered by patents and the license fee is too high. (how much more people would be ready to pay for HQPlayer license to get AAC support?)

I am listening to the 256k stream from Soma fm right now on HQP desktop here on my Mac. To actually get it to play however I had to open the client and press play there. Not a big deal, but if someone is having problems maybe trying that will work. I'll try with HQP embedded in a bit and report back.

In my opinion, this is a great funtionality Miska!

No electron left behind.

Radio Paradise FLAC streams also work. It's a little hit and miss whether or not a stream will work, or if you'll be able to find a direct link to the stream.

Playlist and redirect links should also work. Somafm uses playlists, but also provides direct links.

But sometimes those internet radios use JavaScript for in-browser player and for those cases it is harder to play the stream with external application. You can also configure browser to launch HQPlayer to play media links, but it only works if there's no such built-in JavaScript player.

One of my favorite radios DI.FM also works, but you need to have a premium subscription. Then you can generate a personal playlist file under "Player Settings" that will contain your subscription key for the streams. This can then be loaded on HQPlayer and it works. Nice 320 kbps MP3 stream. At the moment playlist titles on this playlist are not shown correctly, I will fix this for the next release. As their SHOUTcast don't include metadata.

In case my difficulties were connected with using the audiolinux versions, I have now tried it with the hqplayeros image and can report that flac streams are not successfully played on pasting the following sources into the input screen:

http://amp.cesnet.cz:8000/cro-d-dur.flac

http://mscp3.live-streams.nl:8250/class-flac.flac

http://mscp3.live-streams.nl:8250/class-low.mp3

In each case, a section of the logfile produces entries of the following type:

 2021/11/24 22:53:59 Control connection from 192.168.1.248:60258
+ 2021/11/24 22:54:00 Control started from 192.168.1.248:60258

  2021/11/24 22:57:34 Web switch input: #playlist#

That these streams were functional is demonstrated by the fact that they could be played via HQPe when invoked through MinimServer/ Streamer with transcoding to wav.

I could not find a url for the radioparadise stream to try

OK, problem here is that HQPlayer is trying to look for those URLs as local files. Will be fixed in next release.

Those URLs work just fine without any transcoding. Likely also if you feed it to HQPlayer through "hqp-control2 hostname --play-next-uri uri"

Which terminal command can I use for a screenshot? I want to save something like "htop" (CPU load) on the USB stick of the HQPlayer OS.

You try Print Screen (Prt Sc) key on your keyboard ? (and see in "Pictures" folder)... i think (?).. or "Alt + PrtSc" (? I don't remember) or "import" but you must have ImageMagick

@MiskaAsking for a friend of mine...

"I loaded the library, but now I have noticed a problem. I have installed on two PCs, with o.s. Ubuntu 20.04 lts, both the Desktop and Embedded versions and it seems they can't coexist. On HQP Desktop, having set both filters, in PCM, to none, when I play the filter it automatically changes to poly-sinc-ext2. This happens on both PCs. If I uninstall HQP Embedded, the problem is resolved. Is there a solution or the two versions cannot be installed on the same PC?"

I successfully flashed x64 NAA image onto a M.2 SSD and my NUC booted up perfectly.  I connected my SSD to my desktop Mac using an M.2 to USB adapter and flashed with Balena Etcher.  I'm going to do this with my HQplayer server too.

That's a brilliantly simple solution, thanks for that.

Thank you very much, but that doesn't work in @Miska HQPlayer OS. The HQPlayer OS does not have a graphical user interface.

Under Linux there are so many possibilities to take screenshots with varied of applications. What is available in the HQPlayer OS?

So, maybe if Miska integrates a utility for... like "aha" to format htop outfile.
