I cannot provide just simple set of commands that you could do and that would continue to work across ROCm updates.

But usually there should be /opt/rocm symlink pointing to the actual /opt/rocmXX installation folder. It should get updated when the relevant packages get updated, but it is not always the case.

Then the dynamic link loader called ld.so should be configured to look for libraries under /opt/rocm/lib which you can do by adding a file called rocm.conf to /etc/ld.so.conf.d folder and then running "ldconfig".

In that case my only solution is to give up and not use HQP embedded. This is after a fresh reinstall...

If you don't need AMD GPU support and you are flexible with other distros, you can always use HQPlayer OS. Or alternatively use Fedora 34 Minimal (from Server installer).

Maintaining a Linux server always has some amount of learning curve. HQPlayer OS gets around this.

How does Fedora minimal differ from Ubuntu minimal?

Apart from the distro differences (different release pace, packaging system, etc), AMD GPU support is not included for Fedora. Just CUDA. So that side makes it easier in respect to the challenges you've had.

Allegedly,  HQP embedded is running in Fedora 34...

is there a trick to accessing it in my browser?

edit: HQP Client can not see it either.

Did you remember to set username + password for it first?

Regarding Ubuntu, I needed to edit my /etc/ld.so.conf.d/rocm.conf:

https://community.roonlabs.com/t/hqplayer-embedded-thread/160210/70?u=jussi_laako

Check that you don't have firewalld installed "sudo dnf remove firewalld"

Yes, username and password are set

I removed the firewall service, still no go.

There's a new LattePanda Delta single board computer coming out. I use the 864S Alpha as the base for CAPS 20.1, but it looks like that's impossible to get now. The Delta can be had for less money through Kickstarter right now.

I have an HQP NAA image on a microSD card that fits right into my Alpha and it works fantastic.

Hi @Miska I sat down to my system this afternoon to play some music after not using it for a couple days. This time I'm using Roon as the front end. You can see in the log that playback took almost one minute to start. I know you've mentioned DNS as a possible issue in the past. Do you see anything here that either indicates a DNS issue or something else?

If it would be DNS, the delay would be for example here, performing DNS lookups.

At the later point it is just initialization delay. Likely changing filter changes the delay.

@Miska just installed HQPlayer Embedded OS 4.27 and UPNP gapless playing DSD64 as Direct SDM doesn’t work any more.

4.26.2 is working adding in /etc/default/hqplayerd

HQPLAYER_RESET_SDM=0

HQPLAYER_STREAM_FREEWHEEL=1
… any regression?

Attached logs for 4.26.2 and 4.27 (same configuration and same tracks)

HQPE 4.26.2 log.txt 11.61 kB · 3 downloads HQPE 4.27 log.txt 12.34 kB · 3 downloads

Are you sure you are setting the freewheel also on 4.27.0 image?

@Miska … it's my fault.
I checked twice but didn't notice a syntax error ... but there is still a very brief break that doesn't exist in version 4.26.2.
This only happens, in version 4.27, if I use the M2TECH Young dac that plays DSD in DoP format, it does not happen if I use the Khadas Tone Board dac that plays native DSD instead, everything was ok in version 4.26.2

There are no changes between 4.26.2 and 4.27.0 apart from adding MP3 support, HTTPS changes to make handshake faster, and one change to the web interface. None of those touch your DSD case. No changes to HQPlayer OS either, not even single update or anything.
