Surely from the latest 4.22.0-62 build, but even when ROCm packages installed but Not enabled ? Different build... 4.22.0-61 requires ROCm libraries to be installed since it has support for ROCm. 4.22.0-62amd doesn't have ROCm support, but good that you mentioned and I made packaging mistake and accidentally left the package requirements there. Have you compared how the 4.22.0-61 Focal build (ROCm and CUDA enabled) performs for you vs 4.22.0-62amd (no GPU support)? Hi Jessi, To install focal 4.21.0-60 onto Debian 11 must install rocm libs first. I used a device with Focal HQPe 4.21.0-60 installed and upgrade it to Focal HQPe 4.22.0-61 <85 MB> Then play DSD128 7EC extra Its CPU % is the same, around 45 %. Previously I did below upgrading steps: Focal 4.21.0-60 which needs ROCm libs installation, a very painful and confusing process--> Focal 4.22.0_61-->Focal 4.22.0-62 Since focal 4.21.0-60, i7 8700 can play DSD128 7ECext2 at 45% It also can play DSD256 7ECext2 at 90%. Focal 4.19 can only play DSD128 7ECext2 Link to comment
stefano_mbp
@Miska ... I open again the question on upnp gapless issue. supposing to start from scratch and wanting to use HQPlayer Embedded as an upnp renderer, NAA as output, with MinimServer transcoding Alac to wave keeping the same original resolution, and upsampling pcm to dsd256 max, is there a suggested hw configuration that could guarantee no issues with gapless? This is Debian 11 Focal 4.19.0-60--> Buster 4.22.0-61 Done then --> Focal 4.22.0-62 then lots dependencies missing, the toughest are rocm related. I wonder if under Ubuntu OS to install focal 4.22.0-62 one still needs to install rocm libraries ? Link to comment

guiltyboxswapper
That DSP cache really works for poly-sinc-xtr-mp (DSD512 rates)- on a ryzen 3900x (at 3.8ghz) it also looks like 30%+ reduction in CPU usage. Nice work indeed. Link to comment

Nice work indeed. Hi guiltyboxswapper, Are you using Ubuntu focal 4.22.1 HQPe under Ubuntu distro ? When installing , does it need to install rocm-dkms or other rocm packages ? I am running Ubuntu focal 4.22.1 HQPe under Debian 11, it needs to install rocm-libs package etc before it can be done. I found there is nearly 30% drop in Intel CPU usage since focal 4.21 HQPe. Great job done by Jussi ! Thanks maya 1 Link to comment

There are two 1) Intel optimized one with support for Nvidia and AMD GPUs and runs also on older CPUs. 2) AMD/(Intel) optimized one that doesn't have support GPUs or older CPUs. Buster and FC33 builds are pretty much equivalent of the (2) now with small OS specific differences. HQPlayer OS is like (1), but without GPU support. The filters will be lifted off, but it then depends a lot on the filter selection. Since I run mostly poly-sinc-ext2 the difference wouldn't be really notable. I will see when the AMD GPU arrives some time in future. Seems to be almost impossible to get new GPUs these days, be it Nvidia or AMD.
