Headphone_Guy
Does anyone have an opinion on whether the Sennheiser Orpheus HE90 and HEV90 setup offers any advantages over other headphones for playback from a computer music source? There is currently one for sale on eBay, and I am wondering whether it would be a good investment. Link to comment
bordin
A decent computer setup sounds as good as a decent conventional music source. Different headphones have different sonic characters. There are a number of headphones that sound good, mainly balanced, transparent and dynamic. Some are legendary ones such as the HE90. However, you also need a "right" amp to pair with it. Recently, I had a chance to try the HE-5 & EF-5 combo. This set sounds very good with my Metric Halo ULN-2, offering similar sonics of the STAX Omega II I've listened to. There are a bunch of headphones to choose. While legendary products can't be overlooked, there are new headphones that sound very good, bringing music out of your computer setup. One of my friend said the HE-5 + EF-5 combo even sound very good with 128K MP3 music from a portable player ! Head-fi has a collection of user's impressions. My 2 cents. Link to comment
