kirkmc
In our latest episode of The Next Track podcast, we looked at storing media on a NAS, with a special focus on iTunes media. Episode #39 - Storing Media on a Network-Attached Storage Device We also discuss an AppleScript that you can use on a Mac to ensure that any external volume is mounted before iTunes launches, to prevent iTunes from losing track of your media file location. Episode #39 - Storing Media on a Network-Attached Storage Device We also discuss an AppleScript that you can use on a Mac to ensure that any external volume is mounted before iTunes launches, to prevent iTunes from losing track of your media file location. Would it be possible to show that AppleScript or attach a link to it here so we don't have to listen to the podcast? That has been a major PITA in the use of iTunes - if you forget to mount the NAS with the iTunes media folder prior to opening iTunes, iTunes creates another media folder link on the hard drive of your computer. Very frustrating. "The function of music is to release us from the tyranny of conscious thought", Sir Thomas Beecham. Link to comment
kirkmc
You don't have to listen to the podcast, although you might want to to understand how this script works. There's a link on the episode's web page, which is in my original post. I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Author of Take Control of macOS Media Apps.
