witchdoctor
There are some good threads here on the pro's and cons of USB, I am using an Asus Xonar U7 sound card from my USB port to my PC. I installed Jamcast on my PC and it will stream whatever is playing on my PC to various devices on my network. I decided to steam directly to my Sony UHPH1 Universal Player. When I A/B tested it with my USB connection by toggling on my remote the Sony/jamcast solution won. I never have to use USB again and no more $$$ USB cables, soundcards, jitterbugs and all the other doodads. Jamcast has a free version to test, see if it improves SQ for you. Link to comment
Cebolla
Welcome to the world of UPnP/DLNA audio file streaming! Jamcast essentially captures Windows audio and buffers it so that it can be sent over the network as an audio file stream via its built-in UPnP/DLNA media server to your Sony UPnP/DLNA supporting streamer. There are also other ways of doing the same thing, but for free - eg: - Using the Stream What You Hear (SWYH) specialised Windows audio capture UPnP/DLNA media server: http://www.streamwhatyouhear.com/ - Using the excellent foobar2000 audio file player with the foo_record and the foo_out_upnp plugin components: foo_record (Record v0.1) foo_out_upnp (UPnP MediaRenderer Output) We are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us. -- Jo Cox Link to comment
