Hints on ease of use

I have a mac mini which I control via a separate controller Mac using VNC screen sharing.

 

I find that often I lose the connection to the Mac Mini in Finder on the controller Mac if I have not used it in a couple days. When this happens, I have to go into the mini with my TV as wired monitor, and play with the preferences/sharing until the connection is re-established. As much as I like fiddling with computers, sometimes this is just too much hassle.

 

Any ideas on how to keep the connection alive all the time?

could it be caused by sleep mode?

 

and, have you tried periods shorter than a couple of days? 24 hrs, 12 hrs, ...?
