The unplayable piano of Jarrett's Köln Concert

What a story! The Paris and Köln concerts were the first Jarrett CDs I bought. After a couple of years I sold Köln. I couldn't stand the sound even though the audio system I owned back then was much more 'forgiving' to bad recordings than my present one. I always thought that the recording was scr..d up not the piano! How was it possible, after all it's ECM?! After many years I bought the 24bit version. It is still unlistenable. Especially the high registers sound as if they were played on cheap Casio keyboard. Bright and hard. Separate from middle ones. I have to try to listen to it after equalizing the high freqencies one day. Will be back to report ;)
