I'd love somebody to prove me wrong.. Let's have fun!!! Pretty well nailed it. The same could be applied to Henry Rollins of Black Flag who found Butthole Surfing waves of mass media cash to his liking. Black Flag does nothing for me but these two covers are pretty outstanding. Lemmy covering Thirsty and Miserable for a benefit album. 7 piece Indie Pop band Los Campesinos covering Police Story off their breakthrough album. sphinxsix 1 Link to comment

I put quite lots of effort to find this CD some years ago. Speaking of Lemmy - I'm not a big fan of Motörhead but their latest album: is lots of fun. Available as 24-48 download. Track Listing : 1. Breaking the Law (Judas Priest) 2008 2. God Save the Queen (The Sex Pistols) 2000 3. Heroes (David Bowie) 2015 4. Starstruck (Rainbow) 2014 5. Cat Scratch Fever (Ted Nugent) 1992 6. sphinxsix
' Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine, Chuck D and DJ Lord of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill have lived the resistance from day one. So it's no surprise that in the midst of 2016's tumultuous election, the revolutionary musicians would join together as Prophets of Rage to combat the coming storm, whatever it may be. ' 24-44 DR is not suprising 7. http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/128848/Prophets_Of_Rage-Prophets_of_Rage-FLAC_44kHz24bit_Download Link to comment

Popular Post DuckToller
Anyone remembers The Dream Syndicate??? Paisley Underground heroes from the westcoast in the 80ies and revived last year by Steve Wynn, singer and cult artist (his instagram persona), who will be 58 next year??? Their new album (I may write a review of that record before November ends) was well received by critics this year and their European tour had been nearly everywhere sold out. I went to their concert in Paris, hoping to hear some beloved old stuff, that has well aged with me, but to my suprise their performance was soo much energetic and powerful, I was totally hooked! They validated the Lou Reed proverb "you can't beat 2 guitars, bass and drum" just to provide the exemption to the rule themselves: Having Chris Cacavas on the piano it is even more powerful! The key point of their performance: They are authentic, professional artists and they love what they do!! Even they are not rock stars like the Stones, who played the town three nights the same week at the brand new U Arena, 40000 tickets each gig, at more than 150 Euros. The Dream Synicate tickets went at 10 Euros, the venue was sold out with 400 fans. And their material is so well aged, the new songs fit in seamlessly and their psychedelic rock invites you to a musical trip to a friendly beach where guitar solos are free of charge, harmonies everywhere and white noise is never annoying. If you never heard of them before, here is a hint. They infiltrated college radio playlist nearly the same time as R.E.M., with whom they toured the USA. With their friend's (R.E.M., Bangles) success they found a major contract as well, but never let the pop music business demands alter their musical ideas, or they never lived up to their companies expectations. Their songwriting and albums were fantastic, to me! I honor that very much, but knowing about the reality of aging artists, I feel more than once that I would love to see them having a good third age for themselves. That is hard to archieve, afaik. For the concert, I might admit, the major part of the visitors were at the other side of 50, as i am too, and i felt most of them are not into rock concerts every week, just like me. I had my wife's brother with me, who knew nothing about them and usually has a different taste in music. He as well was overwhelmed by the oldies. He just arrived at the 40ies ... Nonetheless, it had been a happy, refreshing and energizing party, with a tribute to the recently passed Tom Petty. I can only warmly reccommend you visting one of the US shows starting in December, it is very good entertainment, it is rock energy at high level and a bit of spa (fountain of youth) as well. sphinxsix and christopher3393 2 Link to comment

sphinxsix
Whatever one might say about the first Sex Pistols album IMO it can't be accused of lack of energy. Let me repeat just one sentence from my first post on this thread: I used to say that for me after Rage Against the Machine (meaning after circa 2000) not much happened in rock. I'd love somebody to prove me wrong.. Link to comment

It definitely counts as post 2000 rock. I'm obviously familiar with Jack White and White Straps. Of course it's a great riff and a very good song however I personally expect rock to be a little more, I actually don't know what words should I use, expressive, energetic, muscular or extravert if you know what I mean. There is just a touch too much of I'd say blasé aspect (in a different form than in shoe gazing bands music though) and some technical carelessness in a sense of not having a technical discipline in what JW does for me. Probably my favorite of his bands are The Raconteurs but I admit I'm not familiar with everything he's recorded, maybe I've missed something. The Raconteurs for those who don't know what I'm talking about (there is one 'mooo' and quite lots of cows in this clip ) Link to comment
sphinxsix
Well, rare examples of post 2000 rock recordings that were able to raise my blood pressure include these two from QOTSA. Link to comment
