As an update ... NAIM today launched a series of new products under their "Uniti" brand. Essentially replacing the existing products like for like, the Uniti Star (to replace the NaimUniti) is an all in one (just add speakers) including a CD transport which allows both playback and ripping (to memory card or a USB attached drive). The Uniti Atom (to replace the UnitiQute) and Uniti Nova are all in one with no internal drive; the Nova being a higher quality unit - both can rip via a USB attached drive if you so desire and all can be used with directly attached storage or with a UPnP server. The final device, the Uniti Core (replaces the Uniti Serve) is a full ripper NAS type device to serve via UPnP to the other Uniti devices, to Naim's "Classic" line of streamers and streaming pre-amp or to third party streamers.

UK prices are: the Uniti Core ripper/server/player - £1650; the Uniti Atom compact network music system - £1600; the Uniti Star - £ 2999; and the range-topping Uniti Nova - £3800.

...in my opinion / experience...

While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing.

And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism.

keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out.
