For audirvana: Integer mode doesn't work out of the box, you need to install el Capitan's IOAudioFamily.kext

Other software I don't know, planning to do the install tomorrow

Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile

I think you mean Direct Mode with Audirvana... Integer mode still works as usual for me

A+ 2.5.4 works good like JRiver 22.0.22... XLD is now working with the new released version:

mounting NAS shares *always requires* manual confirmation of User/Password

this breaks auto-mounting at login on headless machines

bug reported since beta 1 and still there

Has anyone tried BitPerfect with Sierra?

Sierra is working great on my MacBook Air - but I only use that as a remote control for my mini, which is where my music lives and where BitPerfect is installed. That's still on El Capitan.

Nearly upgraded today. Will probably wait a while.

Saw that Damien posted about updates to A+ to correct some regression in Sierra.

For some stupid reason I updated one of my computers. (I was going to sit this one out, since the only new 'feature' is Siri, as if I need another voice nagging me.) The one thing I ran into so far is my ssh public keys no longer work, as you need to use rsa instead of dsa encryption.

Likewise, if you need to connect to a system with an old version of ssh running (like if you work in a place like I do), then you need to tell it what to do explicitly, i.e.,

ssh -oHostKeyAlgorithms=ssh-dss [email protected]

Updated MacBook Air (still have Yosemite on mac mini, which is dedicated computer for playing music). As per now one problem manifested itself. One of external WD USB 3 hard drives doesn't work properly through Corning optical USB cable. After restart external hard drive icon is present in finder initially, but connection drops in couple of minutes when I am moving files from MacBook Air to external hard drive, or when external hard drive is idle. Strangely enough no drops when music files are played from external hard drive in MacBook Air. Had no such issue with El Capitan. Will appreciate any suggestions how to fix it other than to change Corning with other USB cable, this is pretty easy, but not doable for me for another couple of weeks.

DSA has been removed/disabled in many places due to security reasons. GnuPG has also removed it from the set of available ones for new key generations, but still supports old ones. RSA has been supported by ssh since beginning, but now there's also the new ed25519.

Just yesterday evening update El Capitan to Sierra.

Installing passed transparently for me.

First I checked most important for me development tools and launch of virtual machine for Windows. All work.

There no surprises with security. It's very good.

In new operation system security settings was removed point "Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere".

Fortunatelly several time ago we got developer certificate and it is not matter for our software.

Auto downloaded and installed third party codecs (used our audio converter) work too.

Accumulator work time is same to El Capitan.

Speed of work is same too.

Speech control I don't use. More suitable direct brain control :-)

I'v tested HQPlayer 3.14b7 on Sierra and I have not noticed any problems so far...

Don't know if it's Sierra or 3.14b7, but for the first time I'm able to transcode to DSD256 (mid-2011 Mac Mini, 2.5GHz i5, 8GB RAM) without *any* stuttering / pauses / gaps - for several hours this morning :) Nice.

Regarding auto connecting to NAS drives...... (Or lack of)

Seems its not a 'bug' but a 'feature'.

I have recently run into a problem with my Mac Mini, running Sierra OS, failing to "see" my USB DAC (Schiit Bifrost Multibit). After I upgraded to Sierra, all seemed well; the Mac connected to the USB DAC just fine. Then - and this may just be a coincidence - I selected HDMI as my main audio output for one reason or another (watching some streaming video on the TV that I also use as a monitor for the Mac Mini). Subsequently, the Mac "forgot" how to connect with the USB DAC. It no longer shows up in the list of MIDI audio devices, and Dirac and other programs also cannot find it. I double-checked all cable connections, powered-down and repowered the Mac and the DAC multiple times, all with no improvements. Has anyone bumped into this problem and, if so, were you able to solve it? Thanks in advance.

(Note: I also sent a similar inquiry to Schiit, so I'll report back if they provide an answer.)
