Add that to the cost of the sMS-200 and you're basically at parity, and I do believe that licensing costs are involved for use of the Uptone technology. I also own both the sMS-200 and microRendu, though haven't dedicated any time to comparing them yet. I'm also wondering how SotM's new USB gizmodoodle will compare to the new Uptone ISO and whether a new microRendu with the new Uptone technology may be in the works. So many things to wonder about ! So much potential for spending more money ! So glad we have innovators like Uptone and Sonore creating great products for us ! Link to comment
Popular Post http404
For an easy example: Microsoft releases a new version of Excel. They stop releasing new features or functionality for your version and stick to security and bug fixes. If you want the latest and greatest you have to pay. Grrr! Even though your computer works fine, you could buy a new one that comes with the new version of Excel, that way you'd get it "free". The biggest difference is really that as it applies to HiFi, there isn't an established set of expectations about when it's OK to pay for what. Would the naysayers feel less aggrieved over $20 if the new release was numbered 3.0? I can't escape the sense that there's a lack of perspective at play here: The cost itself is trivial ongoing functionality is guaranteed Promises have not been broken and no-one's been mislead Scenarios have been evaluated and a business decision made A team of talented, creative people deserve to be supported and encouraged I want them to stay in business along current lines How many among us have benefited from truly incredible support (raises hand) Can't we all just get along, pay the nice people $20, smile and hug ?! Cheer up - you can probably replace your microRendu with a second sMS-200 and be ahead financially. Wouldn't it be nicer to have nothing to be upset with Sonore about? jacquesr 1 Link to comment

You're right, but there are good reasons for leaving the grumpy posts. It's an opportunity to demonstrate the patience and professionalism with which they're handled and lends credibility to the honesty of the forum. In much the same way, when looking at online reviews, I have trouble trusting the all-glowing or all complaining reviews. At least with Google you can identify the serial complainers or the suspected semi-professional boosters by looking at their review history. I now prefer personal recommendations again whenever possible, as online reviews have become so unreliable. Forums like this are often as close as you can come to personal recommendations or warnings. Link to comment

PITA. +1 I think this is just outright trolling now. Of course, it could also be an exercise in reverse psychology - such massively over the top negativity has almost certainly put anyone else off from feeling any minor irritation at reaching between the couch cushions for $20. Previous updated where over the net for free with no waiting.... Apart from the points others have made, a pirate image would almost certainly cause an avalanche of folks needing help and support attempting a process they'll struggle with and muck up. If the incessant whingeing over $20 has been anything to behold, it would be nothing compared to a situation where Sonore might be forced to start charging for support. Does anyone really want Sonore to go into customer support full time or continue to develop killer product? The Computer Audiophile's latest review goes to great length to detail the maturity and sophistication of Sonore's software compared to SOtM's competitive offering. Folks who are still moaning and groaning, ask yourselves honestly does a company that clearly takes great pains to provide first class support to customers free of charge, pretty much 24x7x365, suddenly get a corporate personality transplant and decide to risk the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth over a measly $20? The simplest and best explanation is that given the constraints they operate under this is their least bad option. Come along now ladies, unwad your panties and get on with life. andifor, MikeyFresh, miguelito and 2 others 5 Link to comment

I did receive the microRendu Software Version 2.5 notification email on April 25 at 11.32 AM (Arizona time) and made payment the same date at 7:13 PM. Did my SD card make it to be shipped on the first batch or will ship on the second? TIA, I'm on the same timeline as you and mine arrived today. Everything went smooth as clockwork - upgraded 2.5, reconfigured Roon and I'm off Link to comment
