Yes, by default. But, one can subsequently activate BT... in AP mode.

(Not really sure if this is good thing, though.)

I'm willing to bet no modern airplane will ever crash because of somebody using Bluetooth. Remember how harshly the phones off policy was enforced until recently? Doesn't really look like it was that big a deal now that we're all ok in flight mode.

And actually, more and more airlines offer Wifi, so why should Bluetooth be different?

Point taken.

When flying, one prefers wired headgear... so that the only lithium ion cells one needs worry about are in the DAP. Which is, happily, rather good for about 7-ish hours (with more 16/44 files and less 24/96 or 192).

DAP is also useable when it is being charged. And, a fully charged iPad and a Mojo is a good back-up.

Some sleep, the occasional movie (should sound better if one has the requisite HP adaptor on hand) and face-stuffing takes care of the rest of the flight time...

Speaking of planes and phones: Our daughter just flew back fro Europe and she said they were not allowing people to bring certain Samsung phones onto the plane.

I read a well-researched article this week about how Apple's competitors are so desperate to win the spec battle--such as battery life and speed--but since they don't have the power efficiency that Apple has with its processor, and since the s/w environment is not as controlled such that they need more RAM, their only recourse is to use bigger and more energy dense batteries. But I guess that is resulting in them being hot and unstable.

One of our sons has a Samsung phone and he says that regular chargers take 4-6 hours to fully charge it. But if he uses the fast "supercharger" it came with he has to be very careful about what he sets the phone on during charging. He has taken to using a flat cold compress from the freezer when he quick-charges.
