flacit.com?

Recommended Posts

Have any of you heard of or purchased music downloads from flacit.com? The prices are very low which makes me suspicious and I couldn't find much about them online other than a brief mention in an audiophile subreddit. Any feedback or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

oo, interesting, guess there's only one way to see if legit, buy something.

The prices are insanely low. 2€ for top-selling albums (Adele, etc) in lossless quality.

And they have albums which cannot be licensed, like "Sting - ... Nothing Like The Sun [MFSL UDCD-546 Japan] '1987"

This looks fishy indeed.

The times when russian download sites could use a legal loophole (radio broadcasting license) to sell downloads at very low prices are long gone (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AllOfMP3). This company is registered in a residential street in the UK

Definitely fishy, it would be a fairly elaborate scam though and how would they expect to get away with it before being rumbled?

I have used the site. Bought a dozen album downloads. Appears legit. Only had one problem with corrupt file download and flacit recredited my account. Send like it is on the up and up to me.

The "About us" page says the site was founded by Nelson Pass, an american audio technology engineer well known for his amps

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Pass

The "Contacts" page refers to the company "FLACK IT LTD" (with a K), which - according to the UK company register, is a run by a Mrs Mashuda Flack, a british engineer, for the purpose of "62020 - Information technology consultancy activities"

https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08641511

Mrs Flack's personal profile is available on Linkedin. She worked in various IT jobs.

The company looks like a shill to me.

They're selling a bunch of live bootlegs. No way that site is legit.

Yes I checked with UK music incensing authority PRS and they hadn't heard of this site, actually they could even access the site as it is geo blocked from the UK. PRS didn't seem too bothered though, said maybe it is licensed by an overseas authority....
